1. Clayton Kershaw may be out four to six weeks although the Dodgers haven’t confirmed a timetable for his return.

2. Former Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III worked out for the Los Angeles Chargers Tuesday.

3. USC kicker Matt Boormeester, who booted the game winning 46-yard field goal in the Rose Bowl in January, won’t return to USC this season due to a student code of conduct issue.

4. In Todd Frazier’s first home at bat for the New York Yankees Tuesday night he hits into a triple play.

5. Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving.

6. All 32 NFL teams open training camp this week.

7. Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg has “nerve impingement” in his right forearm that led to an early exit last Sunday. He remains questionable for his next start.

8. The San Francisco Giants are reportedly open to trading pitchers Johnny Cueto and Jeff Samardzija.

9. On this date in 1933 Joe DiMaggio’s 61 game hitting streak comes to an end. DiMaggio was playing for the San Francisco Seals of the Pacific Coast League.

10. “I can remember a reporter asking me for a quote, and I didn’t know what a quote was. I thought it was some kind of soft drink.” – Joe DiMaggio.

    I’m sure Boormeester didn’t commit double murders, because that’s an excusable offense at Southern Cal.
