“Will you look at all these rumors surroundin’ me every day
I just need some time, some time to get away from
From all these rumors, I can’t take it no more
My best friend said there’s one out now about me and the girl next door ” Lyrics from “Rumors” by Timex Social Club.
More rumors abound this off season. I mean there’s always rumors that abound in the off season but this one’s a doozy. Arroyo junior quarterback Ernesto Camacho is transferring to Monrovia – done deal. Don’t believe it? Well neither do I but it is all over our site and all over Twitter as well. Why would a quarterback coming off of a CIF Championship season transfer to Monrovia, or any school for that matter, four weeks before the season kicks off? Well he wouldn’t of course but the chatter started to get so loud that Camacho felt the need to address it.
Arroyo Head Coach Jim Singiser, who is vacationing in Hawaii, sent me Camacho’s tweet “No, I’m not leaving Arroyo so please stop sending me screenshots of the tweet,” Camacho posted. The Rumor was so off the charts ridiculous that it’s funny Camacho even felt the need to reply. But I get it. Sometimes that’s the only way to get people to shut up…or stop typing.
“Now back to my vacation,” Singiser said. Sure Coach, enjoy. See you August 25 against Covina. And yes, Ernesto Camacho will be behind center.

Speaking of Monrovia, there is one guy that you should keep an eye for the Wildcats. Rashad Flood, 6-4, 240, is a junior lineman that plays on both sides of the ball. Some say he may even be a D1 prospect. I won’t go that far already but let’s just keep an eye on him for now. He looks good.
We’ll find out about Monrovia right away. The Wildcats have Burbank, La Salle, Don Lugo and Damien on the non-league schedule.

I’ve posted “An Early Look” at several leagues so far. I started with the MVL, and followed it up with the Valle Vista, Almont, Miramonte and most recently the Rio Hondo. They were all fairly well received except maybe the Miramonte where Pomona is the decided favorite. Hey I can’t help it if Pomona, which was previously in the Valle Vista, has risen to such heights recently. It may sound funny now, but there was a time that the Red Devils weren’t that much better than Bassett, La Puente and Garey.
Now everybody is clamoring for the Pacific. It’s coming soon I assure you. In a nutshell, it will be an upset if anybody other than Crescenta Valley wins the league. However I am hearing and seeing that Muir is much better and Burroughs is improved. Arcadia, with the Pasadena pipeline, will compete. As for Burbank, the jury is still out. The Bulldogs stunned everybody last year by advancing all they way to the CIF Final, but struggled earlier this year in passing tournaments including Charter Oak. A local coach told me they looked much better later and were missing some key players at Charter Oak. Former Burbank QB Adam Colman has taken the reigns as head coach and Manuel Lemus is the DC so they should be well coached. As for Glendale and Hoover…well former Glendale receiver Michael Davis is in the Los Angeles Chargers camp.
Do we still need “An Early Look at the Pacific?”

Can La Mirada stay relevant now that Mike Moschetti is gone? The Joaquin Aguilar era may get off to a rough start. The Matadores open at home against Orange Lutheran and Capistrano Valley before traveling to Mater Dei and Upland. Of course the La Mirada non-league schedule traditionally features everybody except the New England Patriots.

Gladstone will be a lot better this year. I’m not going to list all of their returning players and talk about how big the Gladiators are up front. But I’ve seen them at several tournaments so far this summer and they’re working…I mean working hard. The numbers were good and so was the morale but I just saw a lot of sweat. Will they win league? I don’t know but they’re grinding…and that includes HC Ted Clarke. Note to self: Post “An Early Look at the Montview.”

In the Del Rio it’s La Serna. Isn’t it always? Although Adrian Medrano and El Rancho look like they’re ready to take that next step. Or is that just a rumor?
That’s my principle.
Tim can be reached at tim@midvalleysports.com or on Twitter @tspeterson40.
El Rancho will beat Sante Fe just on discipline. That is a big problem over there. El Rancho kids will do anything for their coaches.
Might keep the la serna game close.
Cal actually has a nice qb and is the biggest team in the league. Actually bigger than La Serna. Too bad 1 coach can’t do it all and who knows what they want to do on offense.
@Del Rio
Santa Fe had way more discipline issues than ER. The only reason you think that is because our coach doesn’t put up with anything and is a perfectionist. You obviously didn’t hear the Santa Fe players were talking to their coaches. Now you that’s no discipline. ER players wouldn’t dare talk to their coaches like that.
Downtown Downey where you at?
Yes! Got you out of hiding D1. It’s not about Cathedral Bro. You guys and you’re bickering with the Cathedral haters is the reason I love this blog. No disrespect intended.
To Sports Dad, Please keep Cathedral out of this. We have nothing to do with this Topic abut Camacho.
I like tmz he straight comedy. His assinine rumors are funny to me! Every blog needs one these guys and a couple of trolls. Speaking of which where is Downtown Downey and the Cathedral cronies.
This guy is a moron Tim
And PS Bt bear if you deny the fact that Camacho would more weapons at Monrovia over Arroyo then you don’t know football from your @$$
From T. Peterson: All this and another drum roll please…Camacho is still at Arroyo.
@btbear
I’m the problem! Yea keep telling yourself that my brotha. I just posted a rumor I heard from a reliable source, by that I mean “blood reliable ” lol not sure how that makes me the problem. If your inferring that The problem is kids not playing for their home schools anymore then I 100 percent agree but I’m just the messenger here. If we take this same kid Ernie Camacho his home school is actually Mountain View. How many Charter Oak kids are from pasadena and Pomona? No one says anything about that. Again I posted something that was told to me by a relative. So chill there long duck don
100%
Now that’s the truth!!!
La Serna is ripe for the overtaking but…
Santa Fe – Has all the perimeter talent but no linemen and no coaching
El Rancho – Has put together a good coaching staff but has discipline problems that could slowly eat away at their season
Whittier – Doesn’t have the guys to compete with Santa Fe and doesn’t have the coaching staff to keep up with El Rancho
Cal – Going to be young plus another set of assistant coaches, at some point its not the assistants its the head man
Pioneer – Just looking ahead to next year and the 605 League
La Serna will stumble in preseason because of who they are playing then go 5-0 in league and then lose 1st or 2nd round because of still being in Division 3.
Del Rio League Finish
1. La Serna
2. Santa Fe
3. El Rancho
4. Whittier
5. Cal
6. Pioneer
@TMZ, you are the problem in HS football. You and individuals that believe this load of crap, that spew it from unknowing mouths, that encourage kids to believe this is how you should get noticed. Why don’t you shut up, sit down and just enjoy HS football just like it was meant to be watched.
First off the kid is not a college level player, second he’s not gonna get more looks by going to Monrovia. This is the same propoganda that is spread throughout HS football now. If you can play coaches will find you, period.
@superman
Great points. All the reasons why the kid is considering leaving. These Arroyo fans are myopic.
If Camacho kid is legit then Monrovia has better exposure than arroyo, lets face it who from Arroyo is at D1 or D2 in the last 10 years?
Also how many cell numbers does Arroyo have from College coaches to let them know every year “hey I got 5 kids or 3 that you would be interested in” answer NONE.
Camacho did get eaten up at the Bonita tourney because no matter what Arroyo can’t prepare him for high level defenses and high level players. His receivers can’t physically make plays that a Washington can make or Rams can make. Think about it, Arroyo doesn’t even have to worry about another team in league they have Tovar at SEM to think about and that’s it one player in the entire league to focus on. How does that prepare him for college?
@Peterson…. For now…..
From T. Peterson: For the remainder of his high school career.
Camacho is good in D12. I saw him at The Bonita Tournament and he got Destroyed against some upper division teams.
Ridiculous aye? Silly? Why? Lmfao
Ok ok let’s deal with a couple things…
1. Why would Jim Singiser know his qb was leaving? That would be silly to let him know giving him time to road block.
2. Why leave CIF champ arroyo? Hmm
Because that was Arroyos best team in decades… DECADES! That means those teams don’t come around all the time.
Second, Micheal Washington Maury Rams. Can you even name an Arroyo receiver? Well I know the mid valley love fest can name the entire knight roster but colleges can’t identify a single one but I can guarantee they know Washington and Rams! That’s why he should leave to Monrovia.
3. I know this might come as a shock to certain people but… arroyo isn’t above kids leaving. Kids nowadays want to create super teams it’s happening in the NBA and college high school even in pop warner. It’s a sign of the times. Arroyo simply can’t match the athletes or the line play.
Lastly look up the definition of posturing. Lol
From T. Peterson: All of that and drum roll please….Camacho is still at Arroyo.
Yes we need a pacific update as well Tim. I am hearing Arcadia has some talent onboth sides of the ball. They have a big boy at linebacker this year that I hear has D1 size and some serious potential. On offense they showed some speed and potent athletes, watched them play at a few passing league tourny’s. CV has a strong team all the way around and some great size on the line…the big boys win championships
Of course I need a pacific insight.
Players to lookout for
Possible MVP , Dplayer of the year, O player of the year.
Your surprise team
Most improved team.
At least to do a top 25 teams
You forgot to say “Kick it! after that superb lyrical reference Tim. How is Torosian going to feel properly flattered if your imitation is incomplete?
From T. Peterson: The “Rumors” lyrics were in reference to the ridiculous rumors that fly around in the off season. Geez, do I have to explain everything to you?
You never did valley vista league but who cares.
From T. Peterson: The Valle Vista League was posted June 26, 2017. You missed it, but who cares.
Bell Gardens Week 0 opponent Village Christian has dropped it’s program for this upcoming season. I’ve been told Coach Beltran signed Rancho Mirage High School Week 5, the same Rancho Mirage program that lost to Arroyo in the CIF Championship game. Coach Beltran raising the bar and increasing the strength of schedule!
