I have conducted no poll among MVS readers. I have simply noticed, over the last several years, that APU and Galaxy stories keep appearing with the regularity of sunrises, without generating more than 5 comments at best. This goes on and on, without a hint of the staff reaching out to see if, perhaps, a write-up of say MSAC or Cerritos College -or virtually anything else – might spark a better response. I’m not railing for a change in your policy, gentlemen, but it is regrettable and indeed sad to see these stories presented in all their photographic splendor, only to be passed over by those who might otherwise join us in conversation. It confirms my belief that most humans commit acts of self-sabotage on a daily basis, often without being aware that this is what they are doing.

From Duane B.: So what your saying because there are fewer comments, that means no one reads the stories? Interesting. I just read the top USC story in the LA Times and there was only 4 comments. Does that mean only 4 people read that story? I kinda doubt it! And yes, APU and Galaxy stories appear with regularity because that is what you do when you are credentialed by a college or professional team. They kind of expect it!

Sure TIm, I believe your claim that APU does “great on the hit count.” Would you be willing to say that Cougar stories also do well on the COMMENT count, or would you back-off that assertion, since it is subject to reader verification?
Truth be told, most readers tolerate (and skip-over) APU and Galaxy stories because they understand it’s the price of getting to the high school stories that DO interest them. They realize that the underpaid staffers need some way to express their personal preferences, and that’s fine. It would be liberating to simply have you confess to this motive.

From Duane B.: Since you’ve obviously have done some polling with our readers to find out what they are reading and what they aren’t, would you please share with us your research. That way we can compare it with our analytics and see where we need to spend our time!
P.S. Being myopic about the content you provide doesn’t always work! But, you don’t need to believe me, ask around!

The win by Cantwell wasn’t an upset. Salesian is Horrible and lost all their players of last year. They belong in D13 not D5.

Where was this Montebello “solidity” you speak of in the first half versus lowly Whittier? Should it really take a good team an entire half to get things together when playing a squad of that caliber?

Next Season Crespi will come into The Angelus with Cathedral,St. Francis, and La Salle. La Salle does not belong with us and they should go down. Salesian should go back down and I don’t think Cathedral Should play them .

@ Anonymous, hope your right but MHS is real solid top to bottom. Tapia is a beast of a runner and their two backs will be all league. With less than 450 kids enrolled in our school and only 30 or less on varsity it will be tough to pull it out but we will give it a shot.
@Angelus Fan, yea we played them last year with all those studs and it was a sight to see. We can’t dictate what they do but credit to our AD for scheduling them. The Angelus league is very down but all those teams will recruit this off season and bounce back.

I called that Cantwell upset… The entire Angelus league belongs in D12 or below with the exception of Cathedral and St Francis.

That’s correct, Duane, but then I didn’t offer to provide that information in the case of MC-LS. Truth is, I was busy checking my APU depth chart that night, trying to figure how the Cougars could be any less interesting to readers of this site.
From T. Peterson: And yet you keep reading…day after day, hour after hour, minute after minute. Thanks for the clicks. Oh and APU does great on the hit count. Not sure where you’re getting your analytics. Might want to re-check that.

Having MVS simply list the LS-SF game as a viable choice for fans this week is a milestone of sorts, and I thank them profusely for their notice of this contest. I volunteer my services in listing the final score of this contest on Friday, which hopefully will give the harried staff more time to spend on APU football and Galaxy soccer. Thanks again guys….you’re my heroes.

From Duane B.: You forgot to mention the scoreboard with the La Serna v. Mira Costa score!

Why no story? Us stomping SanDimas is like Pioneer beating La Serna, Cerritos beating La Mirada, Walnut clobbering Charter Oak. Some photos and interviews would be great.
