To P Daddy, The Reason Charter Oak is Ranked Number 1 in D3 is Cathedral was moved up to D2. You can Thank the head of the CIFSS Glen Martinez (Salesian Grad) and St. Francis Jim Bonds who are members in The CIFSS Selection committee for Cathedral not being in D3.

@ Tpeterson I’m not always on this site so I must have missed those pics. It’s just All I read or hear about is Schurr or Cathedral or Arroyo in stories or photos. Here you have the No.1 seed in division 3 12-0 just went to Westlake and beat a very respectable program going away. They are in Covina & have been the top program in the SGV besides Amat. I guess I would like to see more coverage. But maybe if they win this week at Rancho Verde they’ll get some love!

    I agree Maverick,
Downey, Paraclete, Charter Oak would all be great matchups against Cathedral, any match up between those four teams is a toss up.
@ Graveyard it wasn’t the coaching, Cathedral could have had Bill Belichick as their coach and they still would have been rolled by Upland, the Scotts are just a whole different animal this year. I did not see the game but I’m sure you must have got a glimpse of that Beast linebacker they have (#10), he is only a Sophomore too.
I am certainly not a South Hills fan, worked chains this year when they visited West Co and saw their coaches up close, pretty classless behavior was on display by both team and coaches, but I did pick them to beat Burbank, did not know they lost their QB R. J. Sterns, he was the key to that team. I would have picked Burbank if I knew he was out.
Estrada does nada, poor form buddy, give a high school kid a break! I hope Lance Babb proves you wrong and is successful in college and life.
Don’t get the chance to see Arroyo too much but I was hoping for back to back Titles for them, would have been a nice feel good story for Coach Singster.
Good Luck to Charter Oak, Covina, South El Monte and St. Francis

All Arroyo haters can laugh and talk the crap you want… These boys worked their butts off and the coaching staff put in alot of time… Ya they aint the best but they sure did have a dam good run… Being undefeated till that point is still great…Missed opportunites cost us the game on Friday, yes it was disappointing and we got a tatse of how rancho mirage felt when they lost the championship… It was not a goos feeling and our seniors hurt the most… But it is what it is and its time to move on… Underclassmen need to work hard and push to be a better team… Seniors keep your heads up and no matter what the outcome is in the end you still got your CIF rings last year and NO ONE can ever take that or that feeling you all felt that day…

Isn’t CO in the Mid Valley Sports area of coverage? Yet no mention it seems there is a bias going on. Cathedral is in LA last time I checked yet MVS seems to be there school paper! Well CO had a great come from behind win at Westlake. Down 21-0 in the 1st qtr seeing the Westlake sidelines celebrate like the game was over. Yet CO never gave up even with bad calls all night & late flags on 3rd downs, bad spots on tackles the Chargers made there way back to win going away 39-28. We have a tough semifinal game with Rancho Verde they lots of speed. Hopefully with good prep will come out victorious! Go Chargers!
From T. Peterson: Yes CO is in our coverage area. We’ve covered several games for the chargers this year. In fact just last week we featured two CO players, in a picture for our “Game Night”. We’ve had many stories about Charter Oak this year. Not sure what you’re reading.

@Maverick no one said they belong in D1. They are right where they belong in D2. They beat St. Francis (who is a top 3 team in D3) pretty handily, so they are well placed in D2. If anything, Upland belongs in D1. They blew out countless D2 teams and even beat Rancho who is a top 8 D1 team. Upland is probably the 5th best team in Southern Cali this year behind Mater Dei, Bosco, Cen10, and Mission Viejo. If not for Salter having in with CIF and crying for his team to get bumped down a division this year, then Cathedral is a semifinal team in D2.

I wasn’t at the game but I heard about the meltdown of Cathedral football. If true the players are a reflection of the Coach, CLASSLESS FOOTBALL…

I’m so tired of hearing all year about the Cathedral hipe, have they ever won a CIF Championship?

Yes they beat St Francis and won League, but in no way do they belong in D1. Mater Dei, Bosco ,Centennial and many more would destroy them.

Another note they where beat this year by a public school.

All this trash talking from Schurr about BG, I don’t understand? Your head coach is a BG guy and your number 2 WR is a BG kid (both still live in Bell Gardens). Schurr had a good year, an under achieving year with the talent they had but still good. It was said on the blog in an earlier post, there is a lot of trash talking from Schurr people for a program that played one more week then BG. Again, it was only one more week. Do you hear that coughing, do you….thats your head coach and Defensive coordinator still choking from Friday night! Get them some water or something! Its okay, you’ll get use to it.

Ramos runs a good program with Schurr kids. “If you can’t beat them join them”. You forget he ran a program down the way and did almost to nothing for 11+ years. Ramos is happy to be on the hill. No way would he be in the position he is in as a coach, If he would have stayed at BG. Support your amigo Mr. B but don’t bash other staffs good or bad that coached the mighty Spartans.

@oiler nation/Friday knights …..,it has been great. A lot of good laughs and trash talking. All in fun my friends. I’ll probably only blog during big weeks going forward.

Kids worked so hard coaches put in so many hours and it all ended just like that. To the seniors, it was a great run tied for a championship your fresh year and won three out right your last three. Congratulations! To the Underclassmen let’s comeback next year stronger and better so that we don’t have to go through this again! Arroyo Football!
