San Gabriel Man of Mystery Zeke Prado is off to the DWU

Good Evening!

T-Minus-161 Days until “The Mid Valley Classic”

Gone!

Economics have forced another assistant coach to leave the Southland. Former San Gabriel standout, and long time area assistant coach Zeke Prado has taken a job coaching running backs at his collegiate alma mater Dakota Wesleyan in South Dakota.

Prado, who coached at Temple City last season and worked with Lynn Cain at ELAC in 2008, was expected by many to join Jude Oliva’s staff at San Gabriel . After several interviews for a full time position, including for the Alhambra opening, Prado took the position offering the most security.

“There’s nothing like going back to my alma mater,” says Prado. “This is an opportunity for me to live a dream coaching college football.”

Over the years Prado, along with Oliva, have created a pipeline to the upper Midwest for San Gabriel players like Juan Magallon, Marco Mora, and Alejandro Bobadilla. Together they also created Legends of Character where they work with area players to help prepare them emotionally as well as physically for the next level.

“I’m not leaving LOC,” says Prado. “Thanks to technology I will continue to be a part of it. I think this could be a chance for us to put Legends of Character on a national level.”

Prado, preparing for departure, asked a question of his own: “Who wants to come with me?”

The 2010 NCAA tournament isn’t even over, and the officials are already discussing enlarging the tourney to 96-teams. As a fan of USC basketball, I’m good with it.

Funny my April Fools joke today was going to be about Robledo joining the Mid Valley staff…

Wasn’t it just yesterday Alex Brown was a young stud defensive tackle for the Chicago Bears…now he’s just old and busted…and quite unemployed.

Maybe somone should let Oklahoma State’s Dez Bryant know when you get booted off the team and show up out of shape for your pro day, you’re gonna get grilled with a lot of questions.

Bryant doesn’t like it, will see how much he likes it when he falls out of the top ten of the draft.

I definitely think the Washington Redskins should trade up to the first spot to get Sam Bradford.

I roll Russell Hantz, Butler, and Ndamukong Suh.

Last Add Oliva: He will be SG’s offensive coordinator in 2010.

Note to Oliva: Who is your quarterback?

Has anyone else out there read “Meat Market” by Bruce Feldman? I’m a couple years late to the party on this, but its a great book.

Stay thirsty my friends…
