Marcel Perez Accepts Northview Offer

It's his turn! Northview DC Marcel Perez becomes Vikings HC

Northview High School Athletic Director David Ochoa confirmed to Mid Valley Sports this afternoon that Marcel Perez has accepted an offer to be the school’s next head football coach.

Perez was the Vikings defensive coordinator last year under Jim Arrellanes, filling the opening created when Brian Zavala left to take the Hacienda Heights Wilson post after the 2008 season.

A 1998 graduate of Northview, Perez also served as DC for one year under Todd Quinsey.

“I’m excited,” said Perez who teaches physical education on campus. “To be coaching at your alma mater is a good thing.”

The Vikings non-league schedule includes El Rancho, La Puente, Chino, and Walnut before competing in the upgraded Valle Vista.

“The new additions definitely are going to make this a tough league,” Perez said. “It’s going to be a lot harder to make the playoffs now. We need to get ready and go after it. I like what we have coming back.”

Perez plans on still leading the defense and is in the process of searching for an offensive coordinator.
