Cathedral is Building a 18 Million Dollar Theater Arts Facility on The Corner of No. Broadway and Bishops Road. The Campus is small but It is in tact.

The way I look at it, Cathedral High sits in a little pocket where Chinatown and the Solano Canyon neighborhood sort of overlap above North Broadway. It’s not quite in Chinatown proper.
There’s some construction going on at Cathedral, so it’s clear that the people there are trying to improve their campus.

I’ve long believed that the City of Los Angeles has been deficient when it comes to working with the neighborhood residents and business owners to upgrade their properties. The area has looked unsightly since at least the early 1970’s.
The neighborhood on the other side of the 110 Freeway from Cathedral High, near Dodger Stadium, has long looked like a dump as well. What an embarrassment to the city.

To Casual, My point is why are you attacking Cathedral’s area. I bet you go right by there to see the dodgers. There are a lot of worse area’s that other High school’s are located. Go see some LA City School’s and than you would understand. Cathedral has been educating Students since 1925 and a Very High Success rate of kids going on to major Four Year Universities. If you want to see a scary area from SGV go to Mater Dei in Santa Ana.

Clearly you know nothing like most people on here. Ever tried to get a beef dip at Phillipes during lunch hour or any hour for that matter.? Another poster disagreed with my take of around 700$ a month tuition. Is it more or less you are laughing at? I do not understand the word hater. I’am an observer is all. I would not work in Chinatown for all the tea in China. Why on earth would I have my kid play football there?

To Casual Observer, what a Moron you are. Have You been to The Loyola and Mater Dei Campus. Have you seen The area’s around those School’s. They make Cathedral look like Beverly Hills. Cathedral does have Phillip’s French Dips around The Corner. Best Place to eat in Los Angeles. Why don’t you say something positive instead of jumping on the Bandwagon and be a hater. Happy New year’s to you sir.

Just from appearances Cathedral looks like a depressing place to work or go to school. It is in residential Chinatown where once glitzy Chinatown is crumbling inside out and it’s neon facades and back scratcher shops have lost their glow.. Unless your check is way in the six figures why work there? If you live any where in the SGV you have a horrible commute to downtown and no place to eat other than Chinese or Vietnamese fare. I’am not sure how Coach Pearson attracted young teen boys to want to spend four years there unless the perks he came up with were off the hook. Then the boys parents pay what 70o$ a month to go there. Amazing job coach.
