"Of course Duke is Duke..."

Good Morning!

T-Minus-156 Days until “The Mid Valley Classic”

Oh, I’ve always been a Duke fan…

Just call me Mr. Gminski…

Then again, as my friend Pete Gillen would say; “Of course Duke is Duke, and they’ve been on TV more times than Leave it to Beaver.”

In spite of Jim Nantz calling the game, as well as the stupid montages, videos, and Jennifer Hudson CBS put together in an obvious attempt to destroy its best product… Monday’s final between Duke and Butler showed us over the course of forty minutes why the NBA is irrelevent.

You can have your Kobe, LeBron…all of it…and its a joke compared to what we saw last night.

I was rooting for Butler, and I wasn’t mad Duke won…but nothing the NBA peddles can match the passion we saw last night. Simply put professional basketball, it its current form, offers nothing.

Give me some Shelvin Mack any old day of the week.

Maybe the Dodgers should have started Vicente Romo instead of Vicente Padilla yesterday in Pittsburgh…

I knew things didn’t look good on the Sam Bradford front when the Philadelphia Eagles sent Donovan McNabb to the Washington Redskins…and the Rams did the expected and released Marc Bulger.

My dreams of Ndamukong Suh are dead… I’m heart broken that my team is stupid enough to draft a once in a lifetime quarterback when there will be a once in a lifetime quarterback in every draft from now until the trumpet sounds.

I’d give Anissa Stoker my vote for President…

Former Temple City tailback Jamil Frazier turned 28 Monday…

“I’ve thought about it,” said Frazier when asked about making a football comeback. “But my body hasn’t.”

Speaking of B-Days (Courtesy of Facebook): Local stars have hit some milestones.

Former El Monte basketball fowarward/center (circe 1978-80) Jim Wooten is 48 today.

Arcadia quarterback/pitcher Garrett Tuck turns 18, as does San Marino beast Stevie Yortsos. Former CV quarterback Karsen Reedy is 18, and current Whittier Christian stud (who I have to confirm for the the show) Jeff Worthy is 17.

Last Add Bulger: Bulger is case in point of what happens to a very good quarterback when he gets the snot beaten out of him repeatedly…Or it is a case of what happens when your front office whiffs on a tackle in the first round named Alex Barron.

I was enlightened over the weekend that La Mirada quarterback Daniel Poncedeleon, three time starter-CIF champion, is going to the University of Arizona on a full ride to play baseball.

Baseball belongs to Peterson in 2010…but good for Bubba Vigil.

Hey…Garrett Anderson’s a Dodger.

Good news for Arcadia football fans…because of scheduling quirks involving Burbank and Burroughs the Apaches will be at home for their final six games of the 2010 season.

So they’ve got that going for them…Which is nice.

Stay thirsty my friends…
