    As someone who has coached against Medrano a few times, you know that every time you play his teams that you have to stay up late nights trying to figure out what he’s going to run. He’s the most unpredictable coach out there.Im sure all the DRL coaches also hope he becomes more simple.

    Facts!

    It amazes me how our own ER ppl are the biggest doubters …. how can you expect the kids to buy in to the program when the adults can’t even do it ..

    You ask him to do it because you have to, these kids have hudl, spring football, lunch sessions, post practice sessions of film time, if a kid doesn’t put in the time it’s on him. A coach can’t sacrifice his entire offensive philosophy and throw in the towel because he is afraid a kid can’t do it, a coach has to hammer that offense down the kids throat in hopes that he will be able to execute by league play. Last years QB for ER was very inexperienced and looked like a deer in the headlights for 3 years Medrano could have said forget It and gone with D-Lo the QB who could run the ball very well, did he do that? No he did not, ER was 3 incomplete passes from a 1-4 league record to a 4-1 Del Rio league championship, had we done as you say and basically handed the ball to weeks 49 times per game we wouldn’t have been close. You have to understand sometimes you have to run some offensive plays that are going to be unsuccessful to set something else up, in Medranos case it worked in 2016, Adam Chandler went from a deer in the headlights twig to an All-CIF QB his senior year thanks to Adrian Medrano. ER does not get 20-25 kids who have played football every year, this isn’t 1997, this is 2018 and things have changed. I can name all the youth football experience kids from every freshmen class the last 5 years and it might add up to 30 total kids.

    @shut up
    Only college kids have enough film time to fully grasp 100 options on any play!!!!

    It’s very clear that ER is lacking in the QB department. So a logical question is why ask an below average player to do above average job? That’s only gonna frustrate everyone the coach the kid and the parent. And this theory that Boomer is a great coach that has no talent is BS! Pico may not have blue chippers right now but they have a ton of talent. Every year they get 20-25 kids who have played football as a youth! In this day and age that is an ADVANTAGE!

    what kind of lame stupid crap is that, so if your qb has a hard time doing something you just give up and say hand the ball off 50 times per game? I don’t know many coaches who will just throw in the towel like that. If that’s the case hire any ole pop warner retread and have him call dives all game. That the problem these days, too many soft DELETED parents who don’t want little Johnny to struggle so instead they want the coach to adapt instead of having their son put in the work on the field and film room.

    So, who’s the real dreamer then? The pico parents who think their little Johnny is going to the nfl or is the real dreamer Medrano for asking his QB to do all the things he just can’t physically do? No one care about the parents opinions but Medrano gets paid to evaluate this kind of stuff. It’s his job to use what he’s got. If you don’t have the QB then you adapt!!
    You made my point for me

    El Rancho Schedule
    vs. Northview – (W) – good team but i think we are returning better, plus last year our underclassmen mopped them up.
    vs. Bell Gardens (W) – BLACK AND BLUE GAME… going to be a battle, and close. my pick for almont league champs this year.
    @ Pomona- (W) – we blew it last year … errors fixed.
    @ Montebello (W) – OVER RATED THIS YEAR>>> Cinderella seasons are over with tapia gone.
    vs. Baldwin Park (W).. dont know much about them.. lost to EM last year… not the real BP. lol
    @ Cantwell (W) – do i have to say why? …. im already hearing the excuses now!
    vs. Whittier (W) – last year they barely beat our underclassmen… this year were the older team.
    vs. Cal (W)- close game, tough team… young… but im going homer on this one !
    @ Santa Fe (W) – RIVALRY GAME! no matter the records.. games will always be tough and come down to the end…. another Homer vote!
    vs. La Serna- (L) – word on the streets, new kids are ballers…. LS still the standard.

    so that leaves ER 9-1 this year… maybe 7-3… lol
    i know im biased… but i feel we should walk into league 5-0 !

    you guys are so fast to shoot medrano! what his staff did with a 1-9 freshman team is proof that his system works… you just need to buy in…

    all this talk about kids not learning and kids KISS… wtf … if you want to be a QB you need to be smart or be able to process….. lets be real with each other … he hasn’t had a REAL QB… and still dont have one in the stable … what he has done with those QB’s , dayum i wish my boy was a QB… i can only imaging what boomer would do with a STUD QB from youth… not these 1st year qb or back yard playeers he is getting… .you guys need to stop living in a bubble …. ER is one QB away from magic… look what joey sanchez did and perea… smart kids! learned to handle a million options just fine.

    dont matter how good of a mechanic you are when you have no MF gas to fill the tank…

    You are aware the Wing-T hasn’t been seen at Rivera Park for years right? In regards to boomers offense, you call it complicated yet Adam Chandler broke the school passing record in 2016 so the proof is there. In 2017 Jacob Rodriguez led the DRL in passing yards. It’s not a scheme issue it’s a Jimmy’s and jo’s Issue.

    You’re probably right on all your points. I do agree Boomer is unfairly hyped and criticized. But I strongly feel his system is too complex. ER doesn’t get 3 hours a day of film to really learn all the options. Most of ER losses were by a score here a turnover there an incompletion or missed read. I think it’s evident that 80 percent execution doesn’t win games. Now, you bring up Wing T or I formation… that’s what the kids know it’s what they do best. Smash mouth football was always the staple at the ranch and while I admire booms attempts to bring in the open offense does he really have to go all the way opposite? How about trying to keep smash ball and adding an RPO or two. I’m just saying maybe 100 options on any given play is insane for high school kids.

    @P.A.

    I never said anything about “greatest coach.” In fact I said the opposite. If you reread my post I said that people shouldn’t make those comments if ER wins.
    But I also said just let the man coach. People are saying he needs to be fired if they don’t win this season. If that happens, then all hopes of stability at ER are lost. When is the last time a head coach has been there for 10 years? When is the last time ER was consistently in the playoffs and consistently making runs? Yet, he needs to go? I never said anyone should bow down because he took a paycit but he shouldn’t be getting blasted either. As I said earlier, you don’t see that happening to coaches at other schools except for maybe Los Altos.
    As for the strategic part and saying he’s too complex, I guarantee if ER was 3-7 running a I formation or wing-t then you would be talking about how they need to open up the playbook more.

    Well everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Should we bow because he took a pay cut? I actually like the guy I just think he’s too complicated and complex. All these options on every play! Indecisiveness Kills! It works in college because of the loads of time coaches have with players.
    I’d be carful throwing out “greatest” coach title. Remember the staff from Los Altos Dale Ziola and company were tabbed as “great” then they leave a rebuilding L.A team and go to Diamond Bar and win zero games! Yes zero! They lost to walnut for crying out loud! So in most cases you’re only as good as your horses.

    I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you El Rancho people are nuts. This time a year ago, you were all saying Medrano was the next coming of Vince Lombardi and this year if he loses a league game, then he’s fired. And I witnessed firsthand that you’re worse in the stands than you are in the blogs. Can you guys just let the man coach? Your lack of support just might be the reason you haven’t had a coach last for more than 10 years in decades. You have a chance at stability so let the coaches coach. Not even Bishop Amat fans are as boisterous as you guys.

    You don’t see other programs fans saying this kind of stuff and it’s not as if El Rancho was lighting the world on fire before Medrano got there. In fact, didn’t he win the first playoff game for the school in something like 15 years? And on top of that, I can think of a program in La Verne that used to be known as one of the top programs in the SGV and IE that would love to have Medrano back.

    So if ER wins, it doesn’t exactly mean El Rancho has the best staff around and if they lose, it won’t mean that the man who took a pay cut to coach his alma mater needs to be fired. Just support your program guys.

    I’m sleeping on the ranch until the “great” coaching staff removes about half of the 1,000 options the kids have on every play. The offense is only easy from the comfort of the coaching box or the classroom but 16-17 year olds have trouble all seeing the same things and that leads to turnovers. Simplify or bye

    Not sure what “TheRanch 18” is thinking but here is El Rancho’s 2018 schedule, at best El Rancho goes 5-5 (my opinion 4-6). Is that better then the 3-7 record they had last year…sure but I am pretty sure some of these teams will be fine “sleeping” on the Ranch! El Rancho goes 2-2 in league, 1-3 if they lose to Cal for a second straight year. If that happens Medrano needs to go!
