Verbum Dei was the fourth team in Pool A. It was a great day for all participating teams. Amat brought their JV team and they were solid for a varsity tourney. Thanks to all for your support! Eagle Rock played well all day.

    CIF,

I don’t know if things have changed since I was last aware of these things, but, in addition, the Avocado Heights area (last I knew) between Valley and Peck (including Workman Mill, Don Julian, etc.) is/was also part of Pioneer’s area from which to draw. I knew many that opted for Los Altos and one that went to Santa Fe.

Pioneer needed to be closed thirty years ago. It’s only the greed of Whittier district which keeps this reality from being acted upon.

If there is a gerrymandered school it is Pioneer. The map where they are supposed to draw their student body snakes from Norwalk and Beverly to the La Mirada border. It purposely aims at the most financially challenged areas and kids have to find transportation from long distances. The upshot is parents use every angle they can to attend Cal,La Serna and La Mirada. This makes Pioneers student body small with the rare top athlete. The school is to be commended for competing at so many levels and their drill and dance teams get national recognition regularly. Go Titans.

Yucca Valley is in pools A and D simultaneously?
From T. Peterson: Must be two teams from the same school. That happens a lot in these tournaments. That’s what was sent to me.
