1. Free agent guard/ Former Laker Isaiah Thomas has agreed to a one-year, $2 million deal with the Denver Nuggets.

2. Former New York Knicks forward Charles Oakley was arrested in Las Vegas on Sunday for attempting to commit a fraudulent act in a gaming establishment. Apparently Oakley pulled back a $100.00 chip after he realized he was going to lose his wager.

3. USC opens the season Saturday September 1 at the Coliseum against UNLV at 1:00 p.m.

4. The Pro Football Hall of Fame will not honor Terrell Owens individually during enshrinement weekend in Canton, Ohio next month.

5. Angels right-hander Garrett Richards will have Tommy John surgery and is out for the year.

6. Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Zach Greinke will replace Chicago Cubs left-hander Jon Lester on the National League All-Star roster.

7. France vs. Croatia, World Cup Final, Sunday 8:00 a.m. PT.

8. On this date in 1995 Ramon Martinez threw a no-hitter as the Dodgers beat the Florida Marlins 7-0.

9. Former major leaguer and manager Robin Ventura turns 51 today.

10. The Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres 3-2 Thursday night to take sole possession of first place in the NL West.

    If Owens had any integrity, he would simply decline the induction, in keeping with the negative statements he has made about the HOF. If he wanted to really be unique, he would form his own Hall, and watch as others decide not to show for HIS award ceremonies.
