1. Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier officially announces his retirement after 12 seasons and will be honored at Dodger Stadium in a ceremony on August 3rd.

2. Triple Crown winner Justify has been retired from racing due to fluid in his left front ankle.

3. New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge fractures his wrist after being hit by a pitch and will be out at least 3 weeks.

4. Vince Carter, 41, will return for his 21st year agreeing to a one-year deal with the Atlanta Hawks.

5. The Angels trade catcher Martin Maldonado to the Houston Astros for left-handed prospect Patrick Sandoval.

6. The Atlanta Hawks have acquired Carmelo Anthony in a three-team deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder but the Hawks intend to waive Anthony after 48 hours. Anthony is then expected to sign with the Houston Rockets.

7. The LA Galaxy rallies for two late goals to forge a 2-2 tie with LAFC Thursday night.

8. On this date in 1993 New York Mets pitcher Anthony Young gets the win ending his losing streak at 27 games.

9. Golfer Jordan Spieth, 3-time major winner, turns 25 today.

    My first dunk was actually at Winchell’s….it was a nasty throw-down of a glazed twist.
