4. The Oakland A’s acquire right-handed reliver Fernando Rodney, 41, from the Minnesota Twins.

5. Free agent wide receiver Dez Bryant will meet with the Browns next week.

6. Angel manager Mike Scioscia calls rumors that he will step down after this season “poppycock”.

7.  Stephen Curry shot a one-over 71 Thursday in the first round of the Web.com Tour’s Ellie Mae Classic.

8. The Dodgers hit five home runs to beat the Colorado Rockies 8-5 Thursday night at Coors Field.

9. On this day in 1934 the New York Yankees’ Babe Ruth announces this is his final season as a full-time player.
