Vikings Clocked by Culver City

(Culver City) – Culver City ran out to a 20-0 lead in the first quarter and went on to a 40-14 win over Northview Friday night to advance to the CIF Division 7 Finals.

Zevi Eckhaus connected on touchdown passes of 22 yards to Kevin McGuire and 20 yards to Jamal Glaspie and Glaspie also busted off a 55-yard touchdown run, all in the first quarter to get Culver City off and running.

Northview cut the lead to 20-7 in the second quarter when Martin Gutierez capped a 68-yard drive with a six-yard touchdown run.

In the third Northview took advantage of a Culver City turnover when James Jimenez scored on a one-yard keeper to get the Vikings within six at 20-14. That was as close as Northview got however as Culver City reeled off the next 20 points to seal the victory.

For Northview David Barela rushed for 125 yards on 19 carries and Gutierez had 11 carries for 61 yards and a touchdown.

The Vikes finished the season 12-1 record overall and won the Valle Vista League crown. Culver City will play San Jacinto next weekend for the D-7 crown.
