You can’t blame the parents for voicing their opinions. You have to blame the administration for a knee jerk reaction. Now a days most administrators do not have any coaching experience and they listen to the deranged parents on how to run a program. They’re reasons why some schools alway lose and some schools become losers it all starts with the administration. Azusa unified is a joke like many other districts that have no leadership. We could run down many bad districts, but you can’t change them overnight. The easiest and best solution is move into a district that is lead by good people and not people using the district for a stepping stone for another job.

@ Everybody Wins: I sympathize with you. They just took a badly-flawed high school football playoff system and made it even worse.
There should be a thorough realignment of leagues in the CIF Southern Section, and there should be a lot fewer playoff divisions. In addition, each of the divisions should be approximately equal in size.
A playoff spot shouldn’t be a birthright for virtually all of the teams in Divisions 1 and 2; league and overall records should mean something in those divisions as well.

No head coach at Azusa. They literally have only 1 out of town candidate. And still haven’t hired him… Great job Principal Gomez and Asst Principal Velasco! Oh by the way, Principal Gomez didn’t know spring ball was a thing and currently happening. And with no AD in place as well, who is going to clear our candidate and his staff which he still needs to find and build….Hey parents, admin and D.O., please continue to applaud yourselves for getting Beltran ousted. Oh and on another note, he just won Coach of the Year at Azusa!!! You got what you wanted helicopter parents.

I just read Rob Wigod’s spiel on the CIF website. It seems the federation is now going with 14 divisions in football, which will spread the wealth of a CIF title around to even more ‘have-nots’ than ever before. The end-game of all this congratulatory activity, of course, is the awarding of plaques to every single player on every team under the sun. But why stop there? Shouldn’t guys who once THOUGHT about playing football get hardware as well?

Spring football practice over for many schools and Hacienda Heights Wilson, Azusa, Norwalk and Bosco still have no acknowledged head coach. Are they quitting football next year? At this point anybody that takes on those jobs is just going to get whipped on.

Dumars makes a good point, because Magic Johnson was a task master on the court in his heyday, as was Michael Jordan. This describes the M.O. of Lebron as well, but sadly, the man is too old—-and his new team is too dysfunctional—-to let the man operate.
