1. The LA Galaxy released midfielder Alexsandar Katai after racists posts by his wife Tea Katai on social media.

2. Former NFL wide receiver Donald “Reche” Caldwell, 41, was shot and killed Saturday night in a robbery attempt in Tampa, Florida.

3. Washington Redskins running back Adrian Peterson said he will be a taking a knee during the national anthem to protest racial injustice.

4. New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees apologized for his comments last week that players kneeling were “disrespecting the flag.”

5. Longtime Atlanta Falcons defensive end John Zook passed away at the age of 72 after a long battle with cancer.

6. Kurt Thomas, the first American male gymnast to win a gold medal at the world championship, passed away at the age of 64.

7. Michael Jordan announced his brand will donate $2.1 billion over 10 years to different organizations to help stamp out ingrained racism.

8. The Brooklyn Nets Kevin Durant, who was rumored to return to action once the season resumes, said he will not return this season.

9. On this date in 1955 the Dodgers optioned pitcher Tommy Lasorda to make room on the roster for Sandy Koufax.

    As long as I’ve been around, people have always been treated differently on the basis of ethnicity, sex, height, weight, age, manner of speaking, choice of clothing and even choice of automobiles. And then of course there’s race….the super red-hot issue of the moment, which like the other categories above, will ALWAYS factor into peoples’ assessments of each other. Why else have the various races voluntarily segregated themselves into neighborhoods of similar people? The Whites who strained their vocal chords in the protests didn’t go home to the same cities as the blacks they championed, so there you have actions speaking louder than words.
