With the direction the pandemic seems to be heading, I think we would be lucky to have any 2020/2021 high school sports played at all. I think all CIF will tell us on July 20th is sports will try to resume in January 2021, and that would be a best-case scenario.

It is reported that La Serna, Cal, Amat, St. Paul, Arcadia, Baldwin Park and Bosco are all practicing. Probably more. Every administrator, coach and parent involved in this should be fired and maybe arrested. With all the data we have how can you use a high school that we pay our taxes to, to allow this tragedy. We have not figured out how to open the schools to get kids back in the classrooms safely yet kids are out there sweating and high fiveing maskless. Videos all over the place. Who is okaying this? School boards, Superintendents, HC’s?

I believe there’s an outside chance we can have a February-to-April high school football season, but everything would have to go right between now and then to make it happen. Football could largely overlap baseball and softball, outdoor sports which have a good amount of social distancing built in.
I think I’m pretty safe in predicting that there will be no indoor sports played during the coming school year.

@No Dice: I would not take that bet without you giving me some crazy generous odds. It’s a lost year.

I’d bet a pretty penny that CIF will draw the curtains on all fall sports. I assumed as much when I heard that Trinity member Santa Margarita was cancelling all summer sports preparations. Might I urge Tim to dig deep into the archives and re-post some of the more sensational stories of the past couple years? If those games were great then, they should still be interesting the second time around.

The Dodgers have enough offense without Mookie in the lineup. The Dodgers didn’t lose the last three World Series because they didn’t have enough offense or not a good enough roster. If Lasorda was the manager they at least get one of those World Series.
