Neither Kyle Korver, nor anyone else, should have to apologize for being of a particular race.

I meant to write the original sentence with a double negative, but I somehow failed to pull it off. Yes, the way one says things is important.

Correction: Muhammad Ali was actually talking about Michael Spinks’ older brother, Leon, before one of the two fights they had in 1978. (The fights were seven months apart; Spinks won the first one and Ali took the rematch.) Ali called him “Leon Stinks.”
I was never a boxing fan, but there were some great heavyweight fighters back in the 1970’s: Ali, “Smokin’ Joe” Frazier, and Ken Norton were among them. Leon Spinks held the WBC crown briefly after defeating Ali in their first bout.
Leon Spinks is three years older than Michael, and both of them are still with us.

@ Tank: Kyle Korver, nor anyone else, should have to apologize for being of a particular race. What he’s doing is showing that he has a conscience, as well as empathy for others who haven’t been treated fairly.

@ My Two Cents: I remember when Muhammad Ali referred to Michael Spinks as “Michael Stinks.” Ali was known for making brash comments, but he almost always backed them up.

Sadly, the only thing I remembered about Michael Spinks was he got knocked out by Mike Tyson ten seconds into the first round. Since that fight, I have not paid for another pay per view.

Is Kyle along for the ride, or will he actually do something? Has he apologized for being white? Does he need to?
