Sierra Vista finished 11-1 last year (on the field) with its only loss coming to Loara in the second round of the CIF Division 14 playoffs. Here’s how the Dons stack up this year, well next year actually in January 2021.

Last year our 10 asst. coaches stipend averaged 3 grand on the low end and 6 grand to the top guys. The money was provided by the athletic dept, spirit pack sales and booster club fund raisers . Raising the money has been no problem. We certainly are not a wealthy school but we have a well entrenched alumni machine. We had planned on 10% raises for all football coaches but now we are talking about how and when stipends be distributed in the age of The Rona.
Funny how Lombardi himself never turned-down a paycheck. You do know that these stipends make jury duty pay look like a powerball lottery win, right?
Vince Lombardi said, “if you love to coach, you will coach for free”.
Are coaching stipends still going to be paid out for walk-ons like the coaches at SV. My guess is no because right now it looks like high school sports is benched for a long while. If they return in our lifetime paying for walk on coaches will be after cleaning supplies, medical tests, masks, computers, extra teachers for smaller classes, more buses and divers, more…………
Arroyo lost, LB lost, NP lost, Covina lost and BP lost. 5-5 first in a weak league. Last year there played nobody until Loara and they lost in the next round. They will not even be the best team in the same city. St. Bernard might even get them. SV is just lucky there will not be a football season until the fall of 2021 so they can recruit more players.
