Bonita QB Garrett Pendleton is looking forward to the 2010 season

T-Minus-105 Days until “The Mid Valley Classic”

Good Evening!

Email came in saying the Mid Valley Spirit pack should include free access to our website… Along with the couch pizza, business cards, Refreshe water, and staff photo.

I believe we can do that.

Question One: If a deal could be done, would a team in need of a quarterback make a deal to acquire Charter Oak back up Josiah Thropay?

Had a back and forth with Bonita quarterback Garrett Pendleton Today

The Mid: How are workouts going right now?

Pendleton: Great, our whole team has never worked harder.

The Mid: How is it going for you?

Pendleton: Great, I have been especially working on getting my feet faster.

The Mid: Is it different now with all the experience you gained last year?

Pendleton: It is totally different I understand the game a lot better, know how to prepare and I feel like it will help me out a ton this year.

The Mid: You have some pretty good guys to throw the ball to…does that help your confidence?

Pendleton: Yeah Casey (Horine), Garrett (Horine), Zach (Braumgard), Matt (Gelalich) and the others make me feel completely confident that I can trust them to come down with the ball even if its not a perfect pass.

The Mid: How do you feel about the new Hacienda League arrangement? It’s like a murderers row of powerhouse teams.

Pendleton: I feel like this new league is highly competive from top to bottom, but I know Bonita will be up to the test.

The Mid: How do you feel about the Smudgepot being played in zero week?

Pendleton: I feel great about it, the stadium will be packed, I know San Dimas has won the last three and CIF last year—congrats to them—but Bonita will be here and ready for them.

The Mid: Did you grow up dreaming about playing in this game?

Pendleton: Very much so, I dreamed of winning the game in front of all our great fans at our stadium. So far I have not won it but this year we will be ready.

Expect Pendleton to be a guest on “The Mid Valley Sports Show” in the very near future.

Have I mentioned that I’ve always been a Orlando Magic fan?

When we post a story featuring pics of a team working out, there is a certain level response we get in terms of clicks and hits. Once in a while something flies off the charts as was the case with Big George Hernandez’s Mt. View piece yesterday.

“View Ready to Compete” which is a couple of hundred words and features three pics of  the Vikings, who went 0-10 in 2009, has taken massive hits. If James Wilson’s team can string together a few wins with its new double-wing offense its safe to assume a huge fan base will emerge out of the woodwork.

Love what we’re seeing at Northview, but the Wild Wild Valle Vista might be the most competitive league around.

If Texas football went independent could that inspire two or three more big time programs to go the same route? They would all be automatics on the schedule for each other. USC and Notre Dame both playing the Longhorns. Then add in maybe Florida and Ohio State…That would be, as Carsenio used to say, weird and wild stuff.

Question Two: If you needed an extra receiver would you contact Monrovia and try to acquire Jay Henderson or Luke Williams? Since the Wildcats aren’t really a passing team, they might be willing to deal from strength. What do you think they would ask for in return?

M-Town is loaded, but maybe they could make a deal now for a quarterback to develop for the future with Nick Bueno being senior.

Dodgers lose two out of three to the Cubs, just when I was slithering (Peterson style) onto the bandwagon…Ted Lily! This guy used to be Dodger property. I wonder what Blue State thinks about the Dodgers going after Houston’s Roy Oswalt.

The Dodgers do need a pitcher and there are reports Kevin Gross is limbering up the old soup bone.

This was sweet news; “The Oakland Raiders have filed a grievance against former quarterback JaMarcus Russell seeking repayment of $9.55 million, the team confirmed Thursday.”

Question Three: It’s obvious the economy has stunted the advancement of many local assistants into full time HC positions. Pushing aside credentials and available positions who would you say are some of the hottest candidates out there to become an HC. If you were in the position to hire someone, who would it be?

Names floated to me, and names I thought of include; long time Arroyo OC Chris MacMillan. Rosemead DC Marc Paramo, and if the details could be worked out a lot of area people would like to see Jerry Chou find a home.

Stay thirsty my friends…
