*”Game Night” to be posted soon.
Based on what I’m seeing, some of these teams who are falling down into D7, D8 range have played some very tough pre seasons and competed really well and are being dropped into a winnable divisions by the weakness of their league. Pasadena, Aquinas, Mira Costa all played strong pre seasons and have miraculously been rated low on calpreps due to the weak teams in their league.
Yes what a Christmas Gift with a bow on it.
Alhambra in Div 14? Wow paid off who?
and Monrovia in Div 6 another gift.
my opinion… your never going to please everyone.
but heres my idea.
your first 5 games are based off your cal preps rating from the season prior .
league games will be decided on you ratings from first five games
playoffs based off the whole season …. lol ..
sounds good in my head
It’s very simple, Rio Hondo Prep is a good small school and therefore will play large schools that are similar ranked. The game will be competitive, one team will win, the other will lose, and just like every year im 4 weeks there will only be 1 champion per division. The only difference this year is there will be a lot of first time teams in championship games because reshuffling always gives opportunities to teams that the previous system ignored. So while you may not have gotten the break this time, RHP benefited for years from being a small school with a built in youth program that almost no other small school has and only had to play those type of schools that had kids who never played football before high school.
@ stop complaining;
Can you explain the logic behind CIF pairing charter oak with rio hondo prep? Rio is a school that only has 43 boys in the entire four grades of high school. In what universe does that even come close to making any logical sense? There should have been some logical, reasonable, or sensible idea that these two teams and rio’s placement in that division, that includes pasadena, for that matter, is outlandish at best.
You clowns need to stop whining about the divisions and saying leagues don’t matter. You all swear like 100 schools win cif football championships each year. Almost none of you fans complaining have ever even made it to a cif championship let alone a semifinal game. Winning league is a lofty goal for most schools. The playoffs are icing on the cake and no matter what system that is in place there are pros and cons. When it was by school size, last 2 years, etc. There was always someone getting and advantage and someone getting the short end.

The Twittersphere should not care that a fourth string wide receiver from LS transferred to Orange. He was delusional on his skills and we are all thrilled he found some small success at Orange high school. It’s only one player that the two schools have in common. Don’t let the rumors get the best of you.
There is no should be or shouldn’t be, you are what you are. We are a D7 because we are in D7 independent of what anyone wants to say. Arroyo almost lost to the 4th place team in the Del Rio, think about that for a second.
Here is what the new system promotes:
Leuzinger HS: 18 players on the 2021-2022 transfer portal, 16 of which are on the football roster.
El Rancho HS: 2 players on the 2021-2022 transfer portal, 1 of which is on the football roster.
This is what CIF feels is the best system.
I was looking at some of these league records and some schools did not win a league game and was rewarded with a playoff berth. Charter Oak did not win a league game and got rewarded win a playoff berth and a home game. Pomona did not win a league game and got smoked by Ganesha. Pomona was rewarded with a playoff berth and will play a down El Monte team. I think CIF has good intension, but needs to reward the league champions with at lease a home game. It’s not a good look for CIF when they give last place teams a home game. Plus, you have league champs traveling to get thrown to the wolfs. Why even have leagues than?
They only moved up cause the format changed or you’d be in the same division usually top 4 and last four from divisions move up and down and the most two division difference. He’s done a great job but I think ER should be a D10/11 school and have a shot same as Arroyo a 11/12 school.
In the Twittersphere there is a facinating back and forth between La Serna and opponent Orange High coaches. It seems there is a discussion about who poached players from whom and what team has recruited more players. It seems Orange has La Serna players now and visa versa. Man these players move around like NBA players today and yet you know what? Both teams deny they recruit at all. That is the way it is at some schools and it is nice to see these all star teams now have to play each other.
?????
Aquinas has no business in this division, not sure how they ended up in D7 when they could easily compete in D5 maybe even D4. Mira Costa another team that should not be in D7, I like the new playoff system but certain teams are simply rated too low and will probably win easily.
@ER- Leuzinger will be a tough game but we would really have no chance against Aquinas which we could have drew. Aquinas had Damien beat until the last play of the game and they have played probably the toughest schedule of any D7 team. If ER gets by round one then they get monsters after that with little hope. ER has moved up from D11 to D7 in Medrano’s tenure. That is not so bad.
Who’s you guys, and who’s talking about Q and secret hand shakes except you. Typical of a loser that always wants to label people and dismiss anything that counters your belief. Only coward and sheep is you! Snowflake
@Anon: Why does everything have to be Q, secret codes, secret hand shakes, conspiracy theories? Ever wonder why? Because at heart you guys are cowards and sheep.
Pac5 ) I’m guessing that private school in La Puente?
Warren loses to corona del mar, warren has superior talent but corona del mar is a better coached football team . Downey loses to Glendora, Haven’t been able to points up against good competition and the defense couldn’t stop the run against warren, don’t think their physical enough to beat Glendora. St. Paul beating upland will be a surprise of the week, but the game of the week will be la serna vs orange. Two teams that are well coached and have great talents at the skill position. As for the Lower division, it great to see teams like Azusa, Basett, and others who never would have a shot get provided a opportunity to see their athletes experiences playoff football in southern California. I don’t see any team in our area winning but glad to see C.i.F try to level the playing field.
Such a dumb post. So edgy. Love it or leave it.
There are 17 teams in all of Division 4. 16 of the 17 teams made the made the playoffs. One didn’t. That team was rated as #1 in Division 4 and possibly a top Division 2 team at the start of the season. Hint, a fall from grace.
Leuzinger definitely a tough draw for ER, if we can move on the top half of the bracket is just loaded, Aquinas, Pasadena, La Mirada, Golden Valley etc
Not as many 63-7 first round blowouts in this set up.
Schurr and El Rancho got the worst draw.
CIF just keeps getting worse! Incompetent! I didn’t know Let’s go brandon was head of CIF too…..
ELM anf ALH are div 14 OMG!!!!!!!!!
