  1. Former All-Star catcher and Hall of Fame Broadcaster Tim McCarver passed away Thursday at the age of 81. 
  2. New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara, along with four others, was indicted by a grand jury for allegedly assaulting a man at a Las Vegas nightclub in February of 2022. 
  3. The Las Vegas Raiders officially released quarterback Derek Carr Tuesday just before more than $40 million of his contract would have been guaranteed. 
  4. Shohei Ohtani, who’s future with the Angels is in question, was named the Opening Day starter. 
  5. The Lakers are 27-32, 13th in the Western Conference, after a 120-102 win over the New Orleans Pelicans Wednesday night. 
  6. Defensive backs coach Frank McManus has been promoted to head football coach at Mater Dei the school announced Thursday. McManus has been part of the Mater Dei program for 16 years.  
  7. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers hired Seattle Seahawks quarterback coach Dave Canales as their new offensive coordinator. 
  8. The Kansas City Chiefs are the favorites to win next year’s Super Bowl followed by the 49ers, Bills and Eagles. 
  9. Hall of Famer Michael Jordan turns 60 today.

    Rollinson has volunteered to stay on in the capacity of special locker room activities coordinator. This move, fully backed by the Archdiocese and the administration, insures that the program won’t miss a beat, or a timely beating.
