Let’s be honest about CIF placements as to what division and to who they play. CIF itself does not know what it is going to do until they get into that smoke-filled room and make deals amongst themselves as to who plays who, as to who is seated where, as to what division to put a particular team in. Nothing I mean nothing is a lock. If that wasn’t true we would know who was playing who after the last game of the season but we don’t. We have teams coming out of the woodwork applying for an opening and getting put in in some division and kicking out another team, it happens every year, it’s a crap shoot. So quit coming out in here acting like you know everything because you don’t.

CIF doesn’t observe any teams for playoff placement. They simply get the ratings from calpreps and go directly off that to place teams in their respective divisions.

    @Sports Man,

That is incorrect but I can understand the confusion. The ranking system CIF uses to place teams in divisions is hsratings.com (formerly CalPreps). You must have a pod subscription to view these ratings and rankings which I think is why very few people actually know what is going on.

i continue to read about Max preps being the leader of the process of rating the teams and what division each team and where the team will be placed for the playoffs? I suggest the CIF board is the group that will observe high school football teams and then place each into a division they think each team belongs ? Of course the Woke ideology will be very much considered within there processing and judgement which teams belong in which divisions, Am I correct or am i incorrect on this focus? I can’t even come close to believing that CIF committee gave way to a group like Max Preps to be the people who ( and their computers) are governing playoff brackets and placing high school teams within divisions where they belong
From T. Peterson: I think you have Max Preps confused with hsratings.com which used to be Cal Preps. CIF doesn’t base all of their Divisions and pairings on hsratings.com but they do use their ratings for teams to make certain determinations on seedings. It’s a tool that they use. Max Preps isn’t a part of that though.

El Rancho does not have a 6’4 280lb qb, he might give the big guy some direct snaps in wild cat, but he is not the qb.

Finally El Rancho has a QB taller then 5’9″. But does he have to be 6’4″ 280 lbs. Anyway Medrano tries and plays everyone he can and gives them their chance. I’m sure not all ER parents agree with that but if there kid goes to practice every day and gets coached up he is going to get a chance.

La Serna got a few transfers in the off-season, none of them notable as far as I can tell. What they do have is a strong senior class that is full of athletes. I doubt Downey is worried about La Serna, but they know LS is their biggest threat in the Gateway… should be a fun game to watch.

    Clearing the Air,
Just wait till you hear what the WUHSD has planned for the school up on the Hill. The District’s Open Enrollment, which has allowed within District students to freely transfer to any of the sister school (with majority “requesting” La Serna), will now be open to ALL, staring with the school’s first ever “Open House” on Oct. 29th, from 6-8pm.

Translating Juggernaut’s puff piece into understandable language, open enrollment has gifted La Serna the biggest most talented athletes in the greater Whittier area. We are advised that, given this advantage, the Lancers’ 36-game league win streak against Whittier, Cal, SF and ER is nothing short of incredible. The cherry on top is that this wildly unbalanced allocation of talent indicates that La Serna is not only doing things “the right way” but is also some kind of a “kingdom.” Hey, call me an emperor for writing this comment.

I have no claim that i know more than you all! But I definitely know one thing for sure: “Downey football program “Is and has been for years” much better than Warren! I suggest the two are not even close in quality. I remember (yes i realize they have improved) back in the years ? about 2005, 06 , and 07 and maybe 08 before they fired Jimenez) Warren did not win even one game during his tenure at Warren. Warren went 0-29-1 during those years. Of course they are better now, but again I suggest Downey or La Serna will be in the top 2 at the finish. I wonder if the teams (including parents, etc) in the league will be / act like the jealous people of LA Serna’s previous successess

    @?

It’s nice to see La Serna extend their league winning streak to 36 in a row. But it’s even nicer to see them do it without a single transfer this year. How many teams can say that in this day and age of CIF transfer madness, where players change teams like underwear. #Doing things the right way at La Serna.

They have lost at least 3 impact players to transferring out however. Sonny Rodriguez who is starting at DE for La Habra. Miguel Tellez who is excelling as a WR/DB at Bishop Amat and big OL Yamil Pappea, where abouts unknown, would have been impactful Seniors on this years team if they had not left La Serna before last year.

All these teams that were allowed to put all-stars on their rosters and play like BP,LM, CO,Bonita,, LS, Amat etc. all won bigly as cheaters do. Yeah I said cheaters, the CIF cheats to promote its agenda. I could care less to read about any of these rigged schools.

That’s nice that Warren kept things close for one half. But you apparently are not informed that the second half is when La Serna becomes tough as nails. Do I wish the Vikings great success in their coming meet with the Whittier All Stars? Absolutely. If that winds up not being the case, however, my point about a new area learning to hate the hill toppers becomes operative.

@historyrepeats, what are you talking about? La Serna played such a sloppy game and was up 3 at half. Do that against Downey and let see what happens.

I said this last week I think but my god what is happening at Rowland? It doesn’t make sense even if they graduated a big senior class that they can go from 10-0 to 0-6 and maybe 0-10 by the end of the year.

Looks like the Gateway league members are next up in the “get rid of La Serna” drama that plagued the Del Rio for so many years. If Downey can’t contain the Whittier all-stars any better than Warren did last evening, it’s anyone’s guess when the Lancer resentment will abate. I’m wondering if even RHP would be able to slow down this year’s LS edition.

RANT II: How can you trust Maxpreps rankings? Pay them a few bucks and get your team a lower ranking or a favorable first round game. Its all a con.

Hearing about Bonita’s solid whipping of Colony made me realize that Steve Bogan is very much like UCLA’s Bob Chesney: both guys are great at teaching the fundamentals and at motivating their kids. You know, sort of the opposite of how Lincoln Riley operates.

I don’t think so. El Rancho was ahead 41-6 going into the 4th qtr. JV team was in SEM’s last 2 touchdowns. Medrano called off the dogs at the end of the 3rd. ER was motivated when SEM team at the end of pregame warmups used a colorful break saying FK El Rancho. Big mistake. Good thing Medrano and Gallardo are friends.

Wow! Maxpreps has South El Monte beating El Rancho 44-0 in the 3rd quarter. Ouch!
From T. Peterson. I saw it too. That was wrong. Some of those scores on Max Preps you can’t trust. We always get them verified. El Rancho beat SEM 41-20.
