@ Detached Observer: You’re welcome. I’m cautiously optimistic about the coming season; we’ll be more experienced, and I think we’ll be more talented as well.
Thanks for your kind words about our 2019 team. That squad, which went 12-1, set a high bar for all future Alhambra teams to strive toward.

@Ron Thanks for great recap! Turnovers are so telling in those games , especially pick 6 and goal line fumbles

You had an excellent squad and even as recently as 2019 D13 was significantly tougher. As I stated previously on other threads your 2019 team would have beaten last years San Gabriel squad 42-6

Good luck with your season. It looks like coaches have things going back in right direction

@ Detached Observer: Yep, the Pac-12 (soon to be the Pac-10 or even the Pac-8) has fewer good teams than the SEC.
Right now, USC, Oregon, Washington, and Utah are the torchbearers for college football excellence out west. UCLA could join that group as well, but it will likely depend on whether the Bruins can come up with a good quarterback and play consistently well on defense.

I’m sure that the coaches and players from Alhambra’s 2019 team would appreciate the compliment; I certainly do. The coaching staff worked very hard with that senior-heavy squad, which included two All-CIF receivers and a good sophomore quarterback. We were also strong on defense and special teams; our takeaways and “non-offensive” touchdowns contributed heavily to our success that season.
We fell behind, 14-0, early in our semifinal game at Ramona. However, we rallied with 17 points in the second quarter to cut the gap to 21-17 at halftime. We came close to taking the lead late in the third quarter, but we fumbled the ball away at the Ramona one-yard line.
Ramona then extended its lead to 28-17 with an interception return for a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter. We responded with a long touchdown pass from Noah Rodriguez to Vito Russell with four and-a-half minutes to go, but we were unable to get the ball back. We ended up losing, 28-24.

Those three teams are beating Cal Stanford Wash State et al by three touchdowns
Won’t even mention last years Colorado squad
    They would be upper level
pac 12 teams and that’s my point Ron

Btw I coached against your 2019 Moor squad in playoffs ; that was very savvy and explosive squad . I was surprised they lost to Ramona …. What happened in that game ?

@ Detached Observer: You can probably add Arkansas, Kentucky, and Missouri to that list, but yeah, the SEC has a lot of good teams.

What about bottom of Pac 12 ?
There’s some medium level quality some 15-25 type teams , but that’s everyone but Vanderbilt in SEC

Stop watching espn, the pac 12 has 4 teams in the top 15 as of right now, USC, Washington, oregon and Utah, oregon state also a few spots behind. Georgia won’t play Alabama or LSU, their toughest game is against Tennessee.

    @Purple Fan,

Well, this is the new NCAA. Same as the old one except their corruption (programs included is out in the open). Personally, I just can’t get into it in its current form. College programs need to secede from the Universities they (only in name) represent. It’s worsening the Academy, yet there’s another way. It’s not the “American way,” but it works and has done so for many generations across the pond. Lifelong SC fan here.

But Georgia plays in a loaded conference and SC plays in College version of Almont. They are hoping to run table and get to final four. Any missteps probably eliminates them.

10-2. Strength of schedule probably lowers their Calpreps rating and drops them down to D-3 or 4 in the playoffs. I expect a matchup vs La serna in round 1 🙂
