  1. Baseball: San Gabriel’s 4-2 win over Bassett Tuesday was the Matadors first victory since 2018.
  2. 22 people were injured and one died in a mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl celebration Wednesday. 
  3. Dalonta “Buzzy” Foley, class of 2025, an athlete who excels on both sides of the ball, has transferred from La Puente to Downey. 
  4.  The San Francisco 49ers fired defensive coordinator Steve Wilks Wednesday. 
  5. The Chicago Bears released veteran safety Eddie Jackson Thursday. 
  6. “Gimme Tommie Frazier and the ’95 Huskers and get out of my way!” – Mark the Shark on Twitter (X).
  7. The Covina Boys Soccer team chanted “Free KG!” outside of the Covina Valley USD school board meeting Tuesday night after their CIF playoff match in support of Kevin Glaspy, who was recently fired as head football coach and track and field coach. 
  8. Iowa’s Caitlin Clark set the NCAA women’s basketball scoring record Thursday when she hit a three-pointer from the logo. She scored 49 points in a win over Michigan and now has 3,569 in her career as she surpassed Kelsey Plum. 
  9. Men’s basketball: UCLA beat Colorado 64-60 Thursday night for their sixth straight victory. The Bruins are now 14-11 (9-5 in the Pac-12.)  
  10. Former major league outfielder Lenny Dykstra had a stroke this week and is recovering in a Los Angeles hospital.
