  1. Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is being suspended for two games for violating the NFL’s Performance Enhancing Substances policy. 
  2. Former Nogales head football coach Gus Martinez has been hired as the new HC at Anaheim. 
  3. San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw underwent successful surgery Thursday to repair a torn Achilles suffered while he was running onto the field during the Super Bowl. 
  4. Azusa Pacific pounded out 22 hits in a 19-18, 11 inning victory over San Francisco State Friday. The Cougars overcame a 10-0 deficit after three innings and scored three runs in the bottom of the 11th inning to win it. 
  5. Steph Curry beat WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu in the three-point shooting contest Saturday night. 
  6. Mac McClung won the NBA slam dunk contest Saturday night. 
  7. The East beat the West 211-186 Sunday in the NBA All-Star game. East guard Damian Lillard was named MVP. 211 points is a record for most points scored by one team in the All-Star game.
  8. Northview, who just advanced to the CIF Division 4A Boys Basketball Finals with a win over Hillcrest Christian Friday night under head coach Chris Confair, went 0-27 in 2018-’19 in Confair’s first season as head coach and was 5-56 over his first three seasons.   
  9. Two juveniles were charged with crimes connected to the mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl celebration authorities said Friday. 
  10. Hall of Fame College Basketball coach Lefty Driesell passed away Saturday at the age of 92. Driesell coached Division 1 College Basketball for 41 years and won 786 games for four different teams. 348 of those wins came at Maryland.

    2) Another retread gets hired by lower division OC school. This is similar to Santa Fe burnout going to Savanna last year and repeating lack of success.

    I don’t really understand why proven assistants from winning programs don’t get a chance , but coaches who are mediocre at best get opportunity after opportunity.

    I read that the NFL is legally considered entertainment, whereas college football is a sport. This means the NFL is within their legal bounds to fix games, because doing so can be considered part of making the games more entertaining, same as changing a movie script to make it better.
