- USC forward Chad Baker-Mazara, the team’s leading scorer, is no longer a member of the men’s basketball team the school announced Sunday. No reason for his departure was given.
- Colorado quarterback Dominiq Ponder has passed away at the age of 23 head coach Deion Sanders announced Sunday. No cause of death was revealed.
- Michigan guard L.J. Cason tore his right ACL and is out for the rest of the season. The Wolverines (25-2) are currently ranked third in the nation by the AP.
- AP Men’s College Basketball Top 5: 1. Duke 2. Arizona 3. Michigan 4. Iowa State 5. Houston.
- Mississippi State wide receiver Brenen Thompson ran a 4.26 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine Saturday. It will likely be the fastest at this year’s combine.
- The Rio Hondo Prep Boys soccer team beat Pacifica Christian/OC 1-0 Saturday to win the CIF Division 8 championship.
- The Kings fired coach Jim Hiller Sunday. D.J. Smith was named interim coach. The Kings are currently in fifth place in the Pacific Division and three points out of a wild-card spot in the Western Conference.
- The Dodgers don’t expect left-hander Blake Snell to be ready for opening day as he continues to rehabilitate from a shoulder injury.
- The Bishop Amat Boys basketball team beat Hesperia 71-48 Saturday to win the CIF Division 8 championship
- Baseball: Calvary Baptist beat El Monte 27-0 Saturday.
