Muir OC Antyone Sims

T-Minus-18 Days until “The Mid Valley Classic”

Good Evening!

Smudge Pot #7: November 17, 1978 at Mt. Sac (1:P.M.)

San Dimas 24 Bonita 14

Smudge Pot #8: November 2, 1979 at Mt. Sac

Bonita quarterback Todd Marchese scores on a three-yard run in the fourth quarter to give the Bearcats a 10-7 victory over San Dimas.

The Bearcats took a 3-0 lead in the first quarter on Trevor Jordan’s 20-yard field goal. The lead held until Saints quarterback Pat Shaver (picked off twice) reached paydirt on a two-yard in the third quarter. The SD drive was highlighted by Ron Brahs’ 77-yard run.

Smudge Pot #9: October 4, 1980 at Mt. Sac

New Bonita HC Ray DeShane gets a career performance out of Tom Stanfill. The Bearcat linebacker intercepts three passes, returns one for a touchdown, and recovers two fumbles in a 23-0 victory over San Dimas.

Trevor Jordan connects on three field goals as Bonita pitches its third shutout in four games, outscoring opponents 111-7 the first month of the season.

No, there are not enough positive things to say about Muir. I like them in the Pacific and I like them to go the semifinals…Check with me in December and I’ll tell you how much I like them after that…

Mustang OC Antyone Sims knows what he’s doing…that combined with an offensive line…and miracle men at the skill positions…and they had those miracle men, home run hitters, even before Dai Dai McFadden came back home…The Stangs should be running wild…

So right now for the St. Louis Rams the number two overall pick in last year’s draft, Jason Smith, is still starting at right tackle…While the first pick in the second round this season, Roger Saffold, is starting at left tackle.

Smith makes 10-million a year, Saffold less than 2-million…But it’s the 2-million dollar man protecting the blind side of the 70-million dollar man at quarterback, Sam Bradford.

No official word has come out of Bonita confirming or denying injury reports at quarterback, but senior Gregory Spathias…(5’11” 7-11-112-yds in 2009)…threw the ball very well on Saturday.

Am I going to miss Lou Piniella? Are you going to miss not seeing a census worker at your door next year?

Last Add Bonita: The J.V.-Frosh scrimmage drew nearly a 100 spectators…While less than dozen came out for the varsity.

Styling…Arcadia HC Jon Dimalante is sporting a new goatee this August…It’s a very new look for a guy that hasn’t aged in fifteen years helming the Apache program…

Traveling Man

Gypsy John Tuttle late of San Marino, late of Duarte, late of Temple City, late of Monrovia, late San Marino again…(he also played at East Los Angeles College)…Is now the freshman coach at Glendale High School.

“I hope to be here a while,” said Tuttle now teaching on the campus.

Go West

If you’ve been around The Mid for a while, you might remember a cartoonist we had from about five years ago named Jeff West… A pros-pro… Well I got him back for this season…

Really Last Add Bonita

“The Wildcat”/”Single Wing”/”Ghost Package” is something Eric Podley has never shied away from. Casey Horine and K.C. Huth would fit the bill perfectly.

Ken Gunn Stadium is one of the nicest stadiums I’ve seen… and yet I’ve never covered a Walnut game at home…

The Southeast quarterback everyone needs to watch, according to Peterson, is Norwalk’s Donovan Gumbs…They may not have to throw out of the double-wing…but Gumbs can throw…

Question:…On the off chance…Wilson, under Brian Zavala, wins the Wild Wild Valle Vista this fall…will the consensus be along the 60-Freeway from the 605 to the 57 that he did it with Los Altos players?

Question Two:…In the off chance Wilson, under Zavala, wins the Wild Wild Valle Vista for five consecutive years…will the consensus still be along the 60-Freeway from the 605 to the 57 that he did it with Los Altos players?

Question Three:…Has a Brigham Harwell, Shaun Cody type transferred out of Los Altos this summer to Wilson?

Just asking…

No…we are not going to allow Whittier Christian safeties Taylor Smith and Paul O’Laughlin guest host “The Mid Valley Sports Show”… Mostly because we don’t think we’d ever get our jobs back.

Bodies, nice unis, energy, and a little video makes everyone a fan…as is the case for the Mt. View Vikings. While I’ve been honking for El Monte as the number three team in the Mission Valley League…My email is being lit up by folks believing the Vikes will finish in second.

Loyal Fanview Lite reader “Bodice” is saying View gets a win against either Arroyo or Rosemead…While a victory over the Panthers has not happened since Bill Clinton’s second term…A victory over the Knights has not occurred since Ronald Reagan’s first term in 1981…

“Football Rush Week” starts tomorrow and runs through August 27… Local coaches every night of the week…Starting at 7:P.M.—Including: Jim Singiser, Matt Koffler, Sergio Gradilla, Chris Long, Craig Snyder, Mike Maggiore, Jim Arellanes, Brian Zavala, Darryl Thomas, Jim Arnold, Mike McFarland…and more…

Stay thirsty my friends…
