  1. LeBron James agreed to a two-year, $104 million deal Wednesday to return to the Lakers. 
  2. The Golden State Warriors acquired Buddy Hield in a sign and trade deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. Hield will be guaranteed $21 million over two years. 
  3. Bronny James signed a four-year, $7.4 million rookie contract with the Lakers Wednesday. 
  4. Charter Oak players LaVar Arrington II (Penn St.) and Marquis Bradley (UC Davis) both announced their commitments Thursday on Twitter (X). 
  5. Former Toronto Raptors player Jontay Porter will be charged with a federal felony connected to the sports betting scandal that spurred the NBA to ban him, court papers indicate.
  6. Dodgers lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-3 Thursday night at Dodger Stadium. They have been outscored 21-7 by Arizona in the last two games. 
  7. Patrick Bertoletti ate 58 hot dogs to win his first men’s title Thursday at the annual Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July hot dog eating contest. 
  8. On this date in 2003 Serena Williams won her second straight Wimbledon title beating her sister Venus Williams 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.

    Bronny continues to declare that playing with his dad is not part and parcel of how this thing went down. When this kid gets tossed from the league about three years from now, he can use his truth-telling skills in a government job.
