While a Player of the Year is one that has numbers that are too big to ignore and stats that are off the charts a Most Valuable Player is one that does so many things well that without him it would be difficult for his team to win. An MVP does a little bit of everything. He makes big plays on offense and dominates on defense. He’ll score a touchdown on one possession and make a tackle on a fourth down stop on the next. This year Bonita’s Noah Mikhail was that guy.

On the Bonita roster Mikhail is listed as a safety, wide receiver and linebacker but he was so much more than that. He carried the ball 37 times, usually in the red zone, and rushed for 184 yards and 5 touchdowns. As a receiver he caught 17 passes for 264 yards and two scores. But he made his hay on defense.

Mikhail had 103 total tackles, yes 103! with 70 of those being solo. He made life miserable for opposing quarterbacks with 6 sacks and 4 hurries. It was hard for quarterbacks to throw over him as he had 12 pass deflections.

The Bearcats, with Mikhail doing his thing on both sides of the ball, won the Sierra League and completed a perfect 10-0 regular season run before advancing to the CIF Division 3 Playoffs. Bonita beat Cathedral in the first round but Mikhail injured his foot in the game and was not able to play in the second round, a 24-0 loss to Edison. It wasn’t a coincidence that the only loss of Bonita’s season was the one in which Mikhail was unable to play. At the game in street clothes Mikhail participated in pregame warmups with his teams and was Bonita’s biggest cheerleader and part-time coach during the contest.

That’s just who Noah Mikhail is. He did little bit of everything for the Bearcats and did everything extremely well. And going forward he will be doing it at the next level as he is taking his talents to Texas A&M. He also will be taking with him the Mid Valley Sports 2024 Most Valuable Player.

It has never been all about me. I have offered news and insight into the Alhambra High football program to the best of my ability, win or lose. When we’ve played poorly, I’ve been honest about it.
I have watched hundreds of high school football games and done stats for the vast majority of them. I have also talked with many coaches over the years. When I offer opinions, it is from this perspective, and I do my best to utilize objective facts in forming those opinions. That doesn’t mean I always turn out to be right, but I make a concerted effort, and I recognize that many other people have valid perspectives as well.
It speaks volumes when anyone says that a head coach like Steve Bogan is a fraud. That’s about as far off base as a person could ever get. End of story.

Oh yeah Steve Bogan had a horrible resume and got all those CIF championships on pure luck. Literally anyone can do a better job than him lmao……
This troll needs to be blocked.
From T. Peterson: Yeah he will be. He’s done.

@T. Peterson and whose fault is it that the kid got hurt? he was injured as a result of poor coaching which is exactly my point.

@Ron Vrooman, AHS stat man mind your business. stop making everything about you, this is a thread about relevant players and programs. anybody could coach better than the frauds that run ahs and bonita. literally anyone. maybe if they could afford an actual stipend they could get real coaches for once.
From T. Peterson: Injured as a result of poor coaching? Stupidest take I’ve ever heard. Yeah…you’re done.

@ Tim: The individual with the strange screen name likes to question a coach’s manhood if he believes that coach has made lame decisions. This isn’t the first time for him.
This persistent troll ought to try coaching (or make a glorious return to the profession, whichever the case may be) if he thinks he can do better. Then everyone else can second-guess him.

@T. Peterson yes i said she and i stand in business on what i say can you say the same? if i say it once i will yell it twice.

now to the actual point, if you have a player this good as a coach and can’t even sniff a title then you have no business in the hc chair. heads need to roll over this choke job. mikhail was the best player in California of kit the entire west coast and deserved to go out with a state title plaque and it sucks that it was stolen from him by horrible coaching.
From T. Peterson: It’s kind of hard to win a championship with him when he’s on the sidelines on crutches. Mikhail didn’t even play in the second-round game against Edison which was their only loss of the season. He was out with a foot injury. Whoops! You probably missed that part. Going forward you might want to read the whole story before commenting. Save yourself some embarrassment. The real question here is…and the one that has all of our readers on the edge is…High School football coaches for $200 Junior…who in the world is she?

From T. Peterson: My job? You’re the one that said she. Who is she? You said it. Own it for once.

A kid from North Texas State 18 years old accounted for almost 500 yards on offense in today’s bowl game. Here’s the kicker. He has never started a game in highschool or anywhere. A B-team QB always.

This kid’s scholarship to Texas A&M is tangible proof that he deserves this award. Kudos also to Steve Bogan for building the kind of team that best showcased Noah’s talent.
