(Pasadena)- Timmy Anderson scored 31 points to lead a Blair offensive explosion as the Vikings dispatched Crescenta Valley 80-69 Wednesday night in the first round of the CIF Division 2A playoffs.
Blair was up by just four points, 39-35, before blowing it open with a 21-6 run to open the third quarter to lead 60-41.
The Vikings were still up by 14 at the end of the third quarter and were able to maintain the lead the rest of the way. Anderson led the charge with a couple of three balls and had nine in the quarter. Myles Payne, who also had a big night, scored four in the third.
Crescenta Valley was never able to get within single digits of the Vikings in the final frame. Everytime they made a run Blair had an answer.
The Falcons scored 21 points in the fourth quarter but Blair was able to keep pace to hold them off and win comfortably.
Blair started off the game on fire as well jumping out to a 15-6 lead. The Vikings hit four three-pointers in the first quarter as Payne and Andrew Patterson each knocked down two from long distance and Anderson had a three point play the old fashioned way.
Crescenta Valley battled back to tie it at 18 as the first quarter came to an end.
Blair continued the hot shooting in the second quarter with 21 points with Payne and Anderson each scoring seven points. Arman Bedrossian scored six in the quarter and Vaughn Zargarian had five as the Falcons stayed within four at halftime.
Then the Vikings came out firing in the third quarter and pulled away.
For the victorious Vikings Payne joined Anderson in double figures with 17 points to give Blair a powerful one-two punch. Manny Macias was also in doubles with 12 doing the dirty work inside. Patterson and Jaleel Hunter each had eight.
Zargarian, the Falcons leading scorer averaging over 36 points per game, finished with 27 while Bedrossian had 16 and Michael Sahagian added eight.
Cresenta Valley finished the season with a Pacific League title and an overall record of 17-8. Meanwhile Blair advances to the second round.
