In a fight that was amped up as one of the hardest fights in the pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao’s career, Pacquiao had one of the best performances ever knocking out Ricky Hatton in the second round Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas.

Hatton hit the canvas twice in the first round. The first knockdown was a right hook that connected on Hatton’s chin, the second came on a combination by Pacquiao with 45 seconds left in the first round.

Hatton was never able to get anything going against Pacquiao. Hatton tried to come in and over power the smaller Pacquiao but Pacquiao got away and would land a right hook.

With 2:59 in the second round Pacquiao landed a one, two combination and the referee didn’t have to count as Hatton was out cold. Hatton stayed on the canvas five minutes before getting up. It was Pacquiao’s fastest knockout in seven years.

Pacquiao improves to 49-3-2 with 37 knockouts and wins Hatton’s Ring, and IBO Welterweight championships, while Hatton falls to 45-2. A showdown between the winner of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Juan Manuel Marquez could be next for Pacquiao.
