Apaches Rally to Remain Unbeaten

(Arcadia) – Arcadia rallied from a 5-0 second inning deficit and went on to beat Tesoro 12-6 Wednesday night at Giambrone Field. With the victory the Apaches remained unbeaten improving to 12-0 on the season.

Already leading 8-6 Arcadia put it away with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Apaches used three walks, a hit batter and a two-run double by Tyler Brereton to break it open. Tyler Swilling then retired Tesoro in order in the seventh to end it.

Swilling picked up for starter Matt Manzo with two out in the second inning and went the rest of the way.

Tesoro used four pitchers overall but all had trouble slowing down the Apaches who had 13 hits overall.

Tesoro jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second inning. Arcadia committed two throwing errors in the inning including one on a pick-off attempt with the bases loaded and two runs scored. Charlie Caliendo, Sebastian Skaff and Nick Bull all had base hits and scored in the inning.

Arcadia responded with two in the bottom of the second. Evan Skinner walked and Tarik Reese singled. Jordan Vogel and Damian Catano had run-scoring singles.

The Apaches tied it in the third inning on two walks, three hits and a balk. Maverick Silva doubled in a run and Evan Truesdale and Vogel also had hits.

Tesoro took the lead in the top of the fourth but the Apaches got even in the bottom of the fourth when a ground ball by Reese scored Brereton who had walked.

The Apaches made it 8-6 in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Catano and a walk to Skinner that forced in a run. There were two walks and a hit batter in the inning.

Arcadia then iced it with the four-run sixth.

Brereton and Vogel each had three hits and Truesdale and Skinner each had two to lead the 13-hit Arcadia attack.

While the Apaches are now 12-0 Tesoro fell to 1-7 with the loss.
