Joe T., always working hard…

By Joe Torosian

“I’ve often heard the King say, give me a sandwich and a douchebag, and there is nothing I cannot do.”
—Lord Salisbury

Kick it!

Note to the Memphis Grizzlies: Get back on defense. What happened in Oklahoma City on Sunday was horrific.

As a Rams fan, I’m excited about the NFL Draft this week. I hope at some point on Thursday night, Les Snead will be on the phone with another GM, telling the pancake-eating mother-blanker to make the deal.

With all that said, though…The Las Vegas Raiders intrigue me. I’m not saying I’m a fan, but the combination of Tom Brady, John Spytek, and Pete Carroll might be enough to offset the negative Davis Mojo.

The first Laker game I saw from start to finish was on April 21, 1973. It was Game Three of the Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriors.

The Lakers won by 56, 126-70.
The Thunder only won by 51.

How bad was the Laker-Warrior blowout?
Besides, Wilt Chamberlain going eight of 10 from the foul line, and collecting 25 boards. Besides Jim McMillan scoring 28 points to lead all scorers, the game’s second-leading scorer was Mel Counts with 17 (13 boards) in 21 minutes.

Anyone remember Mel Counts? Age was the only thing that kept Counts from being cast in Revenge of The Nerds.

Their season is 21 games old, and the Los Angeles Angels are 11-10. This means it’s time to deal with Mike Trout.

Did you know Mets’ first baseman Pete Alonso is batting .356 with 24 RBIs? And any team in baseball could’ve had him as late as February 11, 2025.

Next Thought Lakers: I thought the Lakes looked old on Saturday night. Or is slow a better word?

I’m working the waiver wire daily, but I can’t get any help for my fantasy baseball team. Does anyone have a sleeper or two they can suggest to me? No money is involved, but my poor performance prevents me from talking trash.

And if you aren’t talking trash in fantasy sports, what’s the point?

Next Add Golden State: The Warriors remains a fun team to watch…but can they hold up long enough to make it to June?

Last Add Golden State: How good is Steph Curry? He’s so good Rick Barry would have to show his I.D. and championship ring to be allowed a seat on the floor at the Chase Center.

What do you think the overs-and-unders are on the number of fights Caitlin Clark gets into this WNBA season? I don’t think she got buffed out this offseason to push Wheaties.

I’m saying it right now: The Rams trade out of the first round on Thursday night.

Last Add Curry: Ever wonder how Steph Curry would have done playing for Paul Westhead at LMU? He is the ripened fruit of “The System.”

Probably because of the Villanova connection, probably because I long for the days of Bernard King, but I’d love to see the New York Knicks go to the NBA Finals…and win the whole thing.

Last Add Knicks: I don’t think they’re deep enough.

The hair plus the headband, when I see Cleveland Cavalier big man, Jarrett Allen, I think Rasheed Wallace.

The Dude abides…

Alonzo is having the start of his career. He is on top of most pitches and even his outs produce for the Mets. If Judge wasn’t hitting with a canoe oar, Pete would be in the early MVP talk that always comes months too early.
