Charter Oak (10-1) at San Jacinto (8-3)
Charter Oak had a big win last week over Muir. It took an overtime session but the Chargers got it done. Charter Oak has lost only once all year. San Jacinto also needed OT to beat Bishop Diego. The Tigers have won five straight since a loss to Aquinas back in September. The Chargers can beat you in different ways. They have an explosive offense if the game turns into a shootout and they can clamp down defensively in a low scoring struggle. Charter Oak finds a way to win.

Troy (10-1) at Rio Hondo Prep (11-0) (at Arroyo)
It was another impressive outing for Rio Hondo Prep in a win over a Thousand Oaks team that featured several D-1 athletes. Noah Penunuri is as healthy as ever and ran wild last week. Troy won the Iota League with a perfect 5-0 record and only lost once all year – to La Mirada in Week 1. It’s another huge challenge for the Kares but it isn’t every game a challenge? Rio Hondo Prep just refuses to lose. Kares will be in a battle but will come out victorious.

Loyola (5-6) at Bonita (7-4, 8-3 on field)
Bonita is coming off an impressive win over Northview. Loyola managed to beat Newbury Park but the Cubs had lost three of their previous four games. Bonita establishes the run game and the defense does the rest. Bearcats get the victory.

La Canada (10-1) at Barstow (7-3)
Barstow piled up over 2,000 yards rushing on the season. The Aztecs will try to pound La Canada into submission. But La Canada has a balanced attack. The Spartans can run it as well (over 2.600 yards) and throw it (1,148). Quarteback Joe Bell rushed for over 800 yards while Dash Paper ran for 1,220 yards and 12 touchdowns. La Canada may get into a ground and pound battle with Barstow but it’s a battle the Spartans can win.

Poly/R (8-3) at San Dimas (6-5)
San Dimas got started late last week but was able to get things going in the second half and pulled it out in dramatic fashion over Rowland. They will run the rock with Jacob Gallegos, Keenan Hoyt and Daniel Baeza and try to wear Poly down. Poly likes to throw it around the park. Quarterback Marjok Gustafson threw for 1,728 yards and 23 touchdowns. If the Saints can avoid turnovers they should be fine. The ground game and the home field advantage should be enough.

Western Christian (11-0) at El Monte (9-2)
El Monte picked up a good road win at St. Anthony while Western Christian beat Bell Gardens by a touchdown. Western Christian is still undefeated. The Fighting Lancers love to run the ball racking up 3,221 yards on the ground this season. El Monte has some nice weapons in Alex Aleman, Isaiah Standley and Aaron Rivera. Talk about a balanced attack – the Lions have almost the same amount of yards rushing (2,437) as they do passing (2,542). El Monte will battle until the bitter end, maybe even forge a late lead, but in the end Western Christian prevails and remains unbeaten.

Shadow Hills (6-5) at Baldwin Park (6-5)
Baldwin Park was in a shootout last week and it looks like it will be the same this week. Shadow Hills gives up a lot of points. Five times this season (all losses) the Knights have given up 36 points or more and once they allowed 52. The Braves have given up points in some contests as well but they have the offense to overcome it. They have also allowed 35 points or more in five games but one of those was a win – 49-41 over Covina back in Week 1. Shadow Hills will score but Baldwin Park will score more. The Barves advance.

Indian Springs (7-4) at South El Monte (7-4)
South El Monte should be fine in this one. Michael Maldonado is the main weapon on offense. He can run and throw effectively. Let him do his thing, hold on to the ball, get some stops and move on. Eagles heading to the Semis.
