  1. The Pittsburgh Pirates fired manager Derek Shelton after a 12-26 start that has them in last place in the NL East. Bench coach Don Kelly will take over as Interim manager.
  2. Former All-Star center fielder Chet Lemon, who won a World Series with the Detroit Tigers in 1984, passed away Thursday at the age of 70.
  3. The New York Knicks rallied from a 20-point deficit for the second straight game to beat the Boston Celtics 91-90 Wednesday night. The Knicks now lead the Eastern Conference Semi-Final series 2-0. 
  4. The Oklahoma City Thunder routed the Denver Nuggets 149-106 Wednesday night to even the Western Conference Semi-Final series at 1-1.

  8. The Carolina Panthers released edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney Thursday. 
  9. Baseball: Arcadia beat Bonita 3-0 Wednesday to finish the regular season 25-3. 
  10. The Houston Texans signed rookie wide receiver Jayden Higgins to a fully guaranteed four-year, $11,700,824 contract, making him the first second-round pick in NFL history to have a fully guaranteed contract.
