All kickoffs are at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise indicated:

Friday November 3

DIV 4

Great Oak (7-3, Big West South #1) at La Serna (7-3, Del Rio #1)

La Serna has been banging with the big boys all year taking on the likes of Los Alamitos, Warren, Tesoro and Damien. This is a game the Lancers will be prepared for. Great Oak has played a tough schedule as well and should keep it close. La Serna will gain momentum as well from the home crowd. Lancers advance.

La Serna 28 Great Oak 24

DIV 5

Northview (8-2, Valle Vista #2) at Bonita (8-2, Mt. West #2)

The rematch is here. The first game was great. This one may be even better. Like the first game it could go either way. Bonita is coming off of a win over Charter Oak while Northview fell to Diamond Ranch. Both teams have the weapons to score but expect a low scoring game with the defenses coming out to play. Bonita makes a big stop in the fourth quarter and comes out on top. A field goal could be the difference.

Bonita 20 Northview 17

DIV 7

Muir (5-3, Pacific #2) at Diamond Ranch (8-2, Valle Vista #2)

Good local matchup. Muir needs to find a way to defend Diamond Ranch receiver D’mariya Thomas who absolutely torched Northview last week. The Mustangs have the athletes to do it but they may need to double team him. Muir lost only to Burroughs in the Pacific and were just two yards away from a win. Muir has shut out its last three opponents. The Stangs should make enough stops to get it done. Mustangs win close.

Muir 24 Diamond Ranch 21

DIV 8

San Dimas (6-4, Valle Vista #2) at Highland (6-4, Golden #1T)

The Saints may have played their best game last week in a rout of Los Altos. The Saints offense was clicking and the defense shut the Conquerors out. Everybody is healthy and San Dimas is “focused and playing unselfish football” according to head coach Mark Holman. Highland hails from the Golden League where the Bulldogs tied for first with a 6-1 record. San Dimas is on a roll right now having won three of its last four. It continues Friday night.

San Dimas 28 Highland 21

DIV 9

Monrovia (6-3, Rio Hondo #1) at Troy (6-4, Freeway #1T)

It all comes down to defense for Monrovia. If the Wildcats can make some stops the offense is explosive enough to carry them through. It’s been a concern all year. Monrovia gave up over 50 points three times this season and over 40 four times. The offense has had to bail the Wildcats out. Troy finished 6-4 overall and had a huge win over La Habra the first week of October. Monrovia battles until the end by Troy makes the stop that counts. Troy by a touchdown.

Troy 42 Monrovia 35

DIV 11

Maranatha (9-1, Cottonwood #1) at Cantwell (8-2, Camino Real #2)

Another good area matchup in the first round. Maranatha is coming off of a big win over Whittier Christian last week to win the League title. Running back Miles O’Malley is the real deal. Cantwell went 8-2 overall and took second in the Camino Real behind Salesian. Cantwell is good defensively and will need to be against the Minutemen. Cantwell will need to control the clock and keep Maranatha off the field. The Cardinals may succeed for awhile but the Minutemen prevail in the end.

Maranatha 21 Cantwell 17

DIV 13

Los Amigos (6-4, Garden Grove #1T) at San Gabriel (6-4, Almont #2)

San Gabriel may not go on the type of run it had last year but the Matadors will be fine in this one. The Mats lost a couple of games early but they have now won four straight and six of their last seven. SG by two scores.

San Gabriel 28 Los Amigos 13

DIV 14

La Puente (8-2, Miramonte #2) at Bell Gardens (5-5, Almont #3)

Another good area matchup. La Puente took second in the Miramonte and finished 8-2 overall. The Warriors scored 30 or more points five times and dropped 60 on Workman. Bell Gardens did battle in the always competitive Almont League and the Lancers held their own. They finished in third place and had a key 21-19 win over Montebello that may have saved them a playoff spot. Bell Gardens will pound it and eventually wear down the Warriors. BG gets the W.

Bell Gardens 27 La Puente 21

Schurr hasn’t sniffed anything of note since 2006, this isn’t even a discussion about who has a cif title. Montebello has just had better playoff runs in the last decade that is all.

    Schurr is joke!

How would they possibly do without transfers? They’re good but just ok at best. Even with the transfers. Say what you want but the whole area knows the truth about Ramos. He simply cant do it without transfers. But anyways, good luck tonight. Your team earned it. My prediction tonight. Westminster 28 Schurr 21. Then comes all the excuses as usual…

Haha “Montebello has been on some nice playoff runs” is hilarious. Simple question has Montebello won one? Enjoy your Friday night off, and if you’d like you can even take a drive up the hill to see some real football be played. Ramos had no problem running the ball last week against the Oilers so I guess simply “running the ball to the other side” does work.

Montebello actually has the most recent playoff win for the city of Montebello and has been on some nice playoff runs. Schurr with all its propaganda and recruiting hasn’t represented much.

Easy Montebello you sound like a jealous little girl. Turn the gear in your season is done. And stay off the blogs. Let SCHURR handle it again for the CITY OF MONTEBELLO. We all know the oilers will NEVER win one!

Agree this will be great game between two offensive powerhouses. Two premier receivers in Ellison for Monrovia and Plough for Troy, other good players on both sides.
Monrovia often wins despite City section sloppiness , but don’t think they’ll be able to get away with it Friday . I’m taking Troy with 4th quarter rally .

Schurr loses to Westminster! Ramos and his coaches are horrible and can not beat anyone outside the Almont that is worth a damn. Westminster by 14 guaranteed. Ramos will get scared when the game is tight and run the same o veer plays thinking they are gonna work. Newsflash Ramos just cause you run the ball to the other side does not mean it’s gonna work!

If Troy has some corner backs well that is game over, if not Monrovia might just get into a shootout. But when you consider Troy beat La Habra, well it could be a Troy blowout.
I still say SP got the shaft by the CIF committee. Not only did they end up in D9 with Monrovia who ls the friends with benefits in the CIF office, SP got such a low CP rating they gave them a 15 seed to start off. After a long stint in the playoff wilderness SP gets the likely one and done.
SM the only RHL team favored for at least one week is no shoe in as the CP ratings for SM and Redlands are equal. But then if you look at the CP ratings in D10 it is all pretty much the same so whoever gets a couple of turnovers and avoids costly badly timed penalties could win any game.. But SM will likely draw a 1 seed for game two, so I highly doubt any RHL team will be standing after week two.. And Week one is entirely possible.
