Gabrielino Girls Win First Ever CIF Basketball Championship

By Tim Peterson (Azusa) – Kimiko Nagata scored 15 points and Ava Yamashita added 11 to lead Gabrielino to a 38-23 win over Rosemead to win the CIF Division 5A Girls Basketball championship Friday at Felix Event Center.

Cougars Come Up Short in the End

By Tim Peterson (Azusa) – Azusa Pacific, 12-14 overall coming into the game, stayed with Biola (21-6) coming in, through the first 36 minutes but fell short in the last four in a 77-72 loss to the Eagles Thursday night at Felix Event Center.

Bolt Action: 2/27/2025

By Tim Peterson The Chargers bolstered their secondary late last week with by signing safety Elijah Molden to a three-year, $18.5 million extension. Molden, who was a huge part of Jesse Minter’s defense last year, was acquired from the Tennessee Titans before the 2024 season.

The Bruin Beat: 2/26/2025

The 2024 season ended, UCLA was 5-7 and suddenly the Bruins didn’t have a starting quarterback. Ethan Garbers graduated and took his 2,727 yards and 16 touchdowns with him. Former Inglewood star Justyn Martin, a sophomore who was the heir apparent, said no thank you and transferred to Maryland.
