At the end of Arroyo’s 28-14 win over Schurr Friday night in the second round of the CIF Mid-Valley Division playoffs, all of the players gathered together, held up their helmets and in unison shouted “PAPA SINGISER!”

Arroyo Advances to Semis

(Montebello) – Randy Amezcua broke through the line and raced to a 74 yard touchdown run with 1:09 left in the game to cap off Arroyo’s 28-14 win over Schurr and a trip to the CIF Mid Valley Division Semi Finals.

Monrovia may well be on its way to a fourth consecutive Mid-Valley championship but CIF isn’t rolling out the red carpet for them to get there. The Wildcats get Sierra Canyon in the first round instead of an at large Baldwin Park or a .500 third place team like La Canada.

Cacciatore, Cougars Get Their Kicks

(Glendora) – Azusa Pacific’s Jamie Cacciatore booted a 25 yard field goal as the clock hit zeroes to beat Dixie State 23-20 Saturday night at Citrus College. The Cougars scored ten points in the last two and half minutes to hold off Dixie and improve to 8-1 in the GNAC, 8-2 overall.

Knights Wrap up Perfect MVL Run

(Rosemead) – Arroyo stopped Rosemead on fourth down near midfield with 39  seconds left and held on to beat Rosemead 17-13 Friday night to wrap up the Mission Valley League title.

Estuardo Excelente! Los Altos Clinches Playoff Spot

(Hacienda Heights) – Estuardo Marcos rushed for 190 yards and three touchdowns and the defense came up with a huge stop on fourth down late in the game as Los Altos beat West Covina 24-21 Thursday night.

Mid-Valley Mania  The Mid-Valley Division is the place to be this Friday night. It almost looks like CIF drew up these games a couple of weeks ago but by pure coincidence all five league titles will be decided this weekend.

Cougars’ Balance Too Much for Western Oregon

(Citrus College) – Terrell Watson had a typical Terrell Watson night. He rushed for 175 yards and three touchdowns to lead Azusa Pacific to a 38-28 win over Western Oregon Saturday night at Citrus College. Watson scored on runs of 36, 15 and 19 yards, all of them coming in the second half.
