Chargers’ Season Ends in Defeat, 13-12

By Tim Peterson (Inglewood) – Harrison Butker kicked a 41-yard field goal with 41 seconds left to give Kansas City a 13-12 win over the Chargers Sunday before 68,274 fans at SoFi Stadium. Cameron Dicker booted four field goals for the Chargers but they failed to get in the endzone and they fell short.

Cougars Cruise by Chaminade

By Tim Peterson (Azusa) – Ken West scored a game high 32 points as Azusa Pacific built a big halftime lead and cruised the rest of the way in a 96-69 rout of Chaminade Saturday at Felix Event Center.

Cougars Survive Hawaii Hilo, 87-85

By Tim Peterson (Azusa) – Nate Kleppe’s basket underneath with 54 seconds left gave Azusa Pacific an 87-85 lead and ultimately proved to be the game winner as the Cougars held on for the two-point win over Hawaii Hilo Thursday night at Felix Event Center.

Pasadena Wins Silver Division at Damien

By Tim Peterson (La Verne) – Jovan Jester scored 31 points to lead Pasadena to a 66-62 win over San Gabriel Academy Saturday night to win the Silver Division Championship at the Damien Classic.

Bulldogs Advance to Silver Division Finals at Damien Classic

By Tim Peterson (La Verne) – Desmond Every scored 15 points and the defense did the rest as Pasadena beat Roosevelt (Seattle) 44-32 Friday Night at Bonita High School. With the victory the Bulldogs advanced to the Silver Division Finals of the Damien Classic.

Mid Valley Sports 2023 Player of the Year: Owen Long-La Serna

La Serna won the Del Rio League. La Serna won the CIF Division 4 championship and finally the State Bowl 2-AA State title. The Lancers had several players that contributed to the successful season but at the forefront of it all, leading the charge, was Owen Long.
