Temple City Bests Eagles, Earn Horns

(South El Monte)- Mikal Quintanilla and Joshua Simangunsong led Temple City to a 27-6 win over South El Monte Friday night at “The Swamp”.
 
The game started off with both teams showing some defense. The Rams had their field goal attempted blocked. On the Eagles first possession they went three and out and Andrew Anda block their punt and took it to the 14-yard line.
 
After a couple short runs Quintanilla found a wide open Tim Sanderson in the back of the end zone to make it 6-0 after a blocked extra point.
 
South El Monte’s secret weapon Bryan Aguliar went to work on the kickoff return taking it 97-yards to the house. To end the first quarter. That’s Aguliar’s fourth touchdown on a kick return on the season.
 
Simangunsong went to work in the middle of the second quarter getting the majority of the carries and taking it from 8-yards out to make it 13-6 TC after an extra point.
 
In the third quarter Quintanilla found Sanderson again this time for a 28-yard pass and catch to make it 19-6 after another blocked extra point.
 
Carlos Mota finished off the scoring for the Rams early in the fourth quarter with a 2-yard run to make it 27-6 after Quintanilla hit Sanderson for the two point conversion.
 
Leading Temple City on defense was Andrew Anda who had a sack, and a interception. Simongunsong finished with 130-yards along with his touchdown, Mota fished with 42-hard yards. Quintanilla went 7 of 16 for 104 yards and his two passes for scores.
 
Paul Garcia and Jimmy Martinez stood strong on the Eagles defense, well Billy Valencia and Dominic Munoz ran the ball hard on offense.
 
Eagles stay home for homecoming and play Bell Gardens, well TC goes home to meet up with Rosemead.
