Falcons Survive First Half Scare

(Glendale) – Crescenta Valley opened up Pacific League play with a 35-14 win over Glendale.

Marro Lee continued his impressive streak of 100 yards or more rushing by finishing the evening with 140 yards on 25 carries and two touchdowns.

Lee’s one-yard run with three minutes and four seconds left in the third quarter capped a six play drive that broke open a tight contest between Moyse Field occupants to give the Falcons a 14-point lead.

The score was definitely not indicative of how close the Nitro’s were to pulling an upset they took the high-powered Crescenta Valley offense into the halftime break tied at seven.

The Falcons came out in the second half and took advantage of an early miscue from Glendale’s punt returner who muffed the return and scooped up by Crescenta Valley at the 19-yard line. It would take the Falcons four plays to score on Zac Wilkerson’s two-yard dive to make the score 14-7.

Crescenta Valley would it extend its lead to 21 points as Lee would run nine yards for his second touchdown of the night with ten minutes and two seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.

Playing against the second string late in the game Glendale finally got back on the score board when Alex Yoon took the third play from scrimmage 63 yards to close the scoring out.
