(El Monte)-The Mountain View Vikings played the double wing to perfection in a 40-0 shutout against Keppel Friday night at Viking Stadium in a game that only lasted about an hour and 45 minutes.
Mountain View’s first score came off a Jossymar Ulloa rush from 1-yard. Jose “Nacho” Zamora converted on the two point attempt to make it 8-0 in the early going.
Keppel’s next drive ended when they were unsuccessful going for it on fourth and 19 turning the ball over on downs to the Vikes. Ulloa carried the ball 65-yards for a touchdown on the next play.
At the beginning of the second quarter, Alonzo Mora brought the ball past the goal line from 3-yards out and View would score again after the Aztecs punted the ball to Ulloa who returned 65-yards for another touchdown.
Later in the quarter the Vikings Jerry Ponce broke through for a 25 yard touchdown.
Jesus “Chuy” Ordaz, returning from a concussion, finally was able to get the extra point after his first three missed field goal attempts making it 33-0 at the half.
During halftime View’s defensive back Alfredo Leal was attended to by paramedics and taken to the hospital with an apparent back injury.
View would score one more time in the third as the starters would make way for the bench to finish out the game.
Ulloa had his third game with over 200 yards rushing finishing with 210 yards and averaging 10-yards a carry. Mountain View’s defense was solid holding Keppel to less than 100 yards. Aztec’s quarterback Tyler Takeshita, threw for 75 yards and went 7-11.
Mountain View (2-2) travels to Bell-Jeff in their final tune up before league while Keppel, now with an 11 game losing streak, gets a bye before starting league against Alhambra.
