Mid-Valley Division Top 10 Quarterbacks (so far)

Stephen Anderson and the Heralds are flying

This isn’t based on how tall or short. It is not based on who has the best outlook in regards to playing college ball. What it is about is who is playing the best ball at the moment, who has the best numbers, who is leading, who is providing a spark…and yeah…Whose team is playing the best football right now…

1. Stephen Anderson (Whittier Christian): His team is 5-0, he’s thrown for over 1,300 yards, 13 touchdowns and ran for five more. An amazing start for this southpaw.

2. Aaron Cantu (Schurr): Even through the Spartans tough start Cantu kept producing. A pure passer, he is already in double digits in touchdown tosses and has righted his team at the right moment. St. Paul this week…is a tall order.

3.) Andrew Elfers (Maranatha): A sophomore who is winning on the road. His numbers (66-105-1,141  .629 Pct. 12Tds 4Ints: Rush 156/Td) reflect a player just learning his craft. Has not reached his potential, but is still playing lights out in crunch time.

4.) Billy Livingston (Covina): Only a junior, Livingston makes the Colts contenders. His eight touchdown passes have helped C-Town to a 4-1 record and a threat in the division.

5.) Steven Rivera (Arroyo): Yes, save the comment, most likely he would have been ranked higher if he had not turned his ankle in game three. Prior to that he was playing like a Heisman contender. A junior who plays like a senior. Knights getting him back at right time.

6.) Codee Watts (San Dimas): Nine touchdown passes with 54 completions. Not a pure thrower, but the kind of competitor you want at quarterback. Saints have not played up to expectations, but without Watts the season would already have been cancelled.

7.) Nick Bueno (Monrovia): It would have been too easy to make him first on this list. Bueno is a great football player, but the passing game has yet to get going for the Wildcats. Tribute that largely to a killer schedule. He’ll climb, you know that.

8.) Conor Bednarski (South Pasadena): You always want his numbers to be dynamic-Marino like, but the parts need to be there around him. This guy is strong armed, accurate, mobile and the first reason for the Tigers 3-1 start. Will need to ratchet it up to secure an SP playoff birth.

9.) Kyle Custer (Village Christian): Big, but more runner than thrower. Numbers are off because VC has blown right through a series of cupcakes to start the season. No denying his skill

10.) Andy Guerrero (San Gabriel): Inserted into the line up to provide the Matadors a spark, and has done just that. Guerrero is a playmaker and gives the SG faithful hope each time he touches the ball.

Note: You’re not all going to like the order of this…but tell us who you think should be on and at the top of this list…and vote on our poll…
