I always knew Jim Singiser was a big softy

Good Afternoon!

“We were there scouting….craziest game I have ever seen!” Said Whittier Christian DC Peter Karavedas about last night’s 70-64 epic between Valley Christian and Maranatha.

***

I remember when the Olympic was moved into the Mid-Valley division a few years ago I was complaining…What a jackwagon I was…

***

I know one thing…I don’t need WikiLeaks to let me know Matt Fregoso (who I had not seen this season) is one of the smoothest runners around. I don’t like to use this word but he was a delight to watch last night.

***

Take it as a good sign Rosemead fans that HC Matt Koffler still gets nervous before a game. Remember he has taken the field at the Coliseum with 90,000 people in the stands, it would be easy for him to phone it in but he doesn’t…

***

Note to El Monte Union High School District…All sports and organizations are not equal…Treat your football coaches well…

***

This question was asked by an assistant coach when I was in Glendale last week: “Does football exist just so the band has somebody to play in front of?”

***

Last Word Santa Fe-La Serna: On Thursday I was getting yelled at on the web, I was stuck in traffic, and my phone was acting up…So when I was rolling down Slauson and saw the sign: “Whittier Welcomes You” I felt really good inside…”Thank you,” I said. “Right glad to be here…”

…Then I tried to find parking at Whittier District Field.

***

Enjoy football…because I have a feeling it may be coming to and end real soon….forever…If something is not clarified about tackling, hitting, and this helmet to helmet stuff… Rosemead linebacker stuffs an Arroyo runner last night at the line of scrimmage…and the Panther defender is flagged for a helmet to helmet hit….at the line of scrimmage! Which, if they are truly worried about helmet to helmet contact shouldn’t all the linemen be flagged as well…on every play?

What about when the runner lowers his shoulders? Doesn’t his head have to go with him?

***

Weird feeling came over me in the third quarter after Matt Macias made the great play on the 34-yard touchdown pass to Steven San Miguel…The feeling was….if this is my last game, I would be good with it…

What does that mean?

Rosemead-Arroyo is special, and if you gotta go out that’s the way to go…

Although I would prefer Kenny Andrew not to be commenting about my quads.

***

Whew! That was a close shave for El Monte… The Lions are 2-0 in league…and they should be thinking long not short…MVL title…not second place…

***

We know Bonita is good…but they are 7-0 and looking better and better…Garrett Pendleton has thrown 11 touchdown passes in three games…that puts him on a pace for 22 by the start of the playoffs…Didn’t he miss the first half of the season?

Last Add Bonita: I know Villathedevil says its all good…It is not all good with me…I like having that one back, the one that gets expensive one to two yards with the game on the line and the passing game derailed…Who is that guy for the Bearcats…?

…And now they go to West Covina.

***

Argument broke out in the office over who called Temple City’s playoff drive first…Of course it was me…I was on the theme “They will get better each week” from the get-go…I called the win over San Marino…and now the weasels on my staff are trying to say it was Bad News Barker…

…Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right…

***

For What It’s Worth Department: Rams running back Josh Simangunsong has rushed for 859 yards this season and is only 141 away from becoming TC’s 13th consecutive thousand yard back. With all that has transpired in the last few years, that is amazing…

***

Oh no…I’ve past the dreaded 600-word limit…

***

In Covina they call Vinny Venegas “The Dude”… Well…All I can say is; “The Dude abides…”

***

Overlooked?

Arcadia’s win in Burbank with Taylor Lagace getting the boot early in the first quarter means this Apache team is special…

Myles Carr is good…by this time next year, folks are going to be calling him great…

***

Heading into week eight there has to be a lot of disappointment in La Canada and Crescenta Valley today.

***

Last Add Pacific: From Mid Staffer Tom Hendrickson…”Did you know Pasadena is 0-4 at home and 3-0 on the road?”

Burbank visits PHS next week.

***

Tell me it’s not homecoming next week when Schurr hosts Keppel…

Stay thirsty my friends…
