High School Top 20: Mid-Valley Division

Josh Adame and Bell Gardens are second in Almont; number 11 in the Top 20

All of the top teams won this week. In fact the top 13 remained status quo. Nobody will touch Monrovia in the Rio Hondo, or Azusa in the Montview.

Schurr should win the Almont but needs to be ready vs. Montebello. Big games this Friday night with Arroyo at El Monte, Village Christian at Whittier Christian and Covina at San Dimas.

1. Monrovia (6-2): Will anybody in the Rio Hondo score against Wildcats?

2. Whittier Christian (7-1): Stephen Anderson leads game winning drive.

3. Azusa (8-0): Ho hum; Another Montview rout for Aztecs.

4. Covina (8-1): Colts do what it takes against Pomona.

5. Arroyo (7-1): Knights need to be careful this week at El Monte.

6. Schurr (5-3): Home field advantage for last two league games vs. Montebello, SG.

7. Baldwin Park (3-5): Offense comes out in rout of Wilson.

8. San Dimas (5-3): Saints get the Colts at home.

9. Valley Christian (5-4): Lost to Whittier Christian but Crusaders still second.

10. Maranatha (6-3): Mark Jebbia leads defensive charge.

11. Bell Gardens (5-3): Josh Adame throws for over 300 in shootout at San Gabriel.

12. Rosemead (5-3): 400 or 360? Doesn’t matter; Fregoso’s night was awesome.

13. Village Christian (5-3): Crusaders get their shot at Whittier Christian Friday night.

14. La Puente (6-2): Win over Sierra Vista secures second.

15. Temple City (3-5): Blitzed by Monrovia; but isn’t everybody?

16. La Canada (4-4): Spartans take care of business vs. Blair.

17. Montebello (3-5): Win over Alhambra keeps Oilers alive in Almont.

18. El Monte (4-4): Lions’ biggest game of year this week vs. Arroyo.

19. Alhambra (4-4): Two straight league losses leave Moors in desperate situation.

20. South Pasadena (5-3): Tigers in three way tie for second in Rio.

Number of teams represented in each league: Valle Vista 3, Rio Hondo 4, Olympic 4, MVL 3, Montview 2, Almont 4

Notes: Although there were some changes towards the bottom of the pack, nobody dropped out of the Top 20 this week.
