High School Girls Basketball Top 25

It’s League time now with most leagues beginning on Tuesday and Wednesday. The New Year’s week was not good for some of the top teams with La Salle taking the biggest hit by going 1-3 in the La Canada HS-Midvalleysports.com tournament.

Biggest mover is Keppel which continues to play good basketball. At the bottom are those who were given consideration for the Top 25 and also “games of the week”.

1. Bonita (12-1) – Beat defending Division I State Champs in Nike Tournament.

2. Bishop Amat (12-3) – Lancers finished 2-2 in Best of the West Tournament.

3. Muir (7-3) – Mustangs will be happy to see Pacific League play begin.

4. Poly (10-1) – Panthers are this good and deserve top 5 spot.

5. Walnut (9-3) – Beat host Ayala during the Best of the West Tournament.

6. Keppel (9-1) – Can’t find fault in Aztecs heading into Almont League.

7. Sierra Vista (7-2) – Lady Dons can make a statement on Jan 5 against Duarte.

8. Diamond Ranch (5-6) – Should start strong in Hacienda League with games Diamond Bar and Los Altos.

9. Burroughs (10-3) – Indians have a good showing in West Coast Tournament.

10. L.A. Baptist (10-4) – Monet McNally leads the Knights with 17 points per game.

11. Duarte (9-1) – Falcons could get jump on Montview League title with win over Sierra Vista.

12. Baldwin Park (9-1) – Best of the Valle Vista might be the Braves with a good start to season.

13. Crescenta Valley (7-5) – Young Falcons have struggled as of late.

14. St. Lucy’s (8-3) – Brought back to reality with loss to Muir.

15. La Mirada (7-4) – Makenna Wright has 12 points per game to lead Matadores.

16. Arcadia (7-3) – Apaches had troubles with Burbank in LCHS-MVS tournament.

17. Pasadena (8-4) – Face up and coming Glendale in Pacific League opener.

18. West Covina (9-5) – Bulldogs had good showing in Rowland Tournament.

19. El Rancho (8-4) – Begin Del Rio League play with La Serna on Thursday.

20. La Salle (9-4) – Bad week for Lancers in La Canada HS-Midvalleysports.com tournament.

21. Whittier Christian (9-6) – Stumbled in the Ontario Christian Tournament.

22. Valley Christian (5-7) – Kari Korver is the most deadly three-point shooter in the area.

23. Burbank (7-5) – The offense runs through Lysette Perez for the Bulldogs.

24. Covina (7-7) – Colts had a great Rowland Tournament to get ready for Valle Vista action.

25. Wilson (8-6) – Winners of Rowland Tournament set its sights on new league.
