Julissa Castellanos signed Scholarship with Simpson University
(South El Monte) – Julissa Ray Catellanos, a three sport athlete at South El Monte High School, has signed a letter of intent on a softball scholarship to attend Simpson University in Redding, California in the fall.
Castellanos, who also excelled in cross country and soccer, has played travel ball for several years as well as on the varsity and it paid off in a softball scholarship. Castellanos signed on January 28 and will make the transition to Simpson University this summer.
Castellanos plays third base and catcher for the Lady Eagles and is set to begin her senior season this week. South El Monte opens the year at Northview on March 7.
Last year Castellanos hit .273 with four extra base hits and 10 runs batted in. She had a fielding percentage of .909 in 2010.
