High School Softball Top 25

Glendora's Stephanie Froussine is one of the reasons the Tartans are at #1.

Great week of tournaments with a new #1 this week after Glendora went 4-0.

Crescenta Valley looks to have returned to its dominance after steam-rolling through the Duarte Classic.

The toughest week goes to Bonita which played nine games in seven days.

This week the Charter Oak and Arroyo tournaments take center-stage.

  1. Glendora (5-1) – Bats came alive in San Dimas Classic final.
  2. La Canada (3-1) – Ran into a hot Glendora team that only allowed five runs during the San Dimas Tournament.
  3. Crescenta Valley (4-0) – One-two pitching combo for Falcons with Helene Cook and Erin Ashby.
  4. South Hills (3-2) – That “ping” sound you here are coming from Huskies bats in the Southern part of Covina.
  5. Bonita (7-2) – Tough week after winning Palm Springs Tournament the previous time.
  6. Northview (4-2) – Impressive group of youngsters that include freshman pitcher Ana Mejia.
  7. Schurr (2-1) – Jacklyn Zacarias earned player of the week for the Spartans in opening week.
  8. La Salle (3-1) – Very good showing in the Palm Springs Tournament.
  9. San Marino (2-1) – Michelle Floyd won pitcher’s duel against Arroyo and Jaclyn Wagner.
  10. San Dimas (3-2) – Saints get off to good start.
  11. Duarte (4-1) – Finished 3-1 in own tournament after opening round loss to Wilson.
  12. Temple City (4-2) – Rams can hit the tar out of the ball.
  13. Arroyo (1-2) – Will get back on track during own tournament.
  14. West Covina (2-3) – Dekota Monarrez hit two shots that are waiting to come down during San Dimas tournament.
  15. Charter Oak (3-2) – Upset Bonita for third place in San Dimas Classic.
  16. Village Christian (1-2) – Tough start to promising season.
  17. Mayfair (3-3) – Have lost two straight in Downey tournament.
  18. Bishop Amat (3-1) – Start the season in Arizona in Tournament of Champions.
  19. Maranatha (2-1) – Heather Wilson has a great start to the season.
  20. Sierra Vista (2-0) – Have allowed just one run in two games.
  21. Montebello (2-1) – Great win over Arroyo to start the season.
  22. Bellflower (2-1) – Taylor Stewart went 1-1 and allowed zero earned runs last week.
  23. Baldwin Park (3-0) – 34 runs scored in three games. Time will tell if Braves are this good.
  24. Santa Fe (3-2) – Brittany Gonzalez named to all-tournament team during Cypress tournament.
  25. Los Altos (2-2) – Conquerors rebounded nicely after loss to Glendora.
