(West Covina) – Bonita rolled into the finals of the Charter Oak Charger Classic at Big League Dreams with a 13-3 win over Northview in the semi-finals.

Every Bearcat batter registered a hit with Courtney Gano, Corinna Liscano, and Michelle Whit each hitting a homerun.

Gano and Jazzlyn Costa each went 3-for-4 on the day.

The Bonita offense got to freshman Ana Mejia in the second inning sending 11-batters to the plate. The Bearcats scored seven runs on eight hits in the inning.

Liscano started the inning off with a homer, then four straight hits by the bottom of the lineup that included singles by Kate O’Malley, Ciarra Liscano, Anissa Sanchez and Whit. After Liza Liddell grounded to first, Gano came up to hit a two-run dinger to blow the game open.

Costa nearly made it back-to-back home runs for Bonita in the second but couldn’t stretch the triple into an inside the park homer.

Northview battled back in its half of the third inning with Mercedes Menchaca knocking one into deep left that no Bearcat could retrieve to break up Sanchez’s no-hitter and shutout. Sarina Jaramillo singled with two-outs and was brought home by Suzette Ortega’s two-run homer.

Those were the only runs the Vikings enjoyed against Sanchez the remainder of the game.

The hit parade continued for Bonita in the third inning with Sanchez helping her own cause with a single. Whit’s homer with Sanchez on gave the Bearcats a 9-3 lead with one out.

Liddell, Gano and Costa all singled to load the bases for Breanna Sandoval who promptly singled to drive in two runners.

Ciara Liscano and Liddell each singled in the bottom of the fourth inning to set the stage for Gano’s double to score both Liscano and Liddell to invoke the 10-run rule. Gano finished with four RBI’s on the game.

Sanchez pitched a shut-out in the fifth inning to send the Bearcats to the finals against Charter Oak tomorrow at 3pm.
